Noah Syndergaard was ejected from Saturday night's game against the Dodgers for throwing in the general direction of Chase Utley in the third inning.

Syndergaard appeared to try and hit Utley with a pitch, but missed. He was immediately ejected and manager Terry Collins was subsequently ejected for arguing. It's assumed that Syndergaard was responding to Utley's take-out slide on Ruben Tejada last October. The right-hander had only allowed two hits in 2 1/3 scoreless innings prior to his getting sent off.

Danny Salazar allowed two runs over six innings in a win over the Orioles on Saturday.

Salazar gave up six hits and walked two to earn his fifth win of the year. He continues to be one of the best pitchers in the American League, posting a 2.39 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 72/28 K/BB ratio over 60 1/3 innings of work. He's presently second in the league in strikeouts and fourth in ERA among qualified starters. Salazar will next take on the Royals on Thursday.

Jhonny Peralta will miss 3-4 days of his rehab assignment in Double-A Springfield with a cut finger that required stitches.

It's not a long-term issue, but it does move his expected return date back a few days. Not that the Cardinals will mind, of course, with Aledmys Diaz raking at the plate. Peralta was 3-for-15 (.200) in his rehab assignment prior to the injury.

Evan Longoria went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI as the Rays beat the Yankees 9-5 on Saturday.

Longoria connected on a Michael Pineda pitch for a two-run shot in the second inning. The homer was his ninth of the season, giving him 24 RBI and 26 runs scored. The 30-year-old is slashing .254/.302/.466 overall.

Michael Pineda's rough 2016 season continued Saturday, allowing six runs over 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Rays.

Pineda gave up nine hits, including a two-run home run to Evan Longoria, while striking out just three. The loss was his sixth in 10 starts this year, and Pineda now owns a 6.92 ERA and 1.65 WHIP. He's just giving up too much contact, and they're hitting it too hard. He'll keep searching for a former dominance Thursday against the Tigers.
May 28 - 7:45 PM

Matt Moore struck out seven while allowing three runs over 6 2/3 innings in a win over the Yankees on Saturday.

Moore gave up eight hits and walked three, so he's not quite out of the woods yet, but it was a step in the right direction in what has been a tough year thus far. Moore hadn't struck out seven in a game in more than a month, and the quality start was also his first since April 27. Moore moved to 2-3 with a 5.31 ERA and 1.47 WHIP, and he'll try to carry some momentum into Thursday's start at the Twins.

David Wright (neck) is out of the Mets' lineup on Saturday, as the Mets have "a little concern" about the injury.

Not much information is known about the neck injury and Ty Kelly will get the start in his place. With any bump or bruise with Wright, it's an immediate concern that it will become a nagging issue or that he will eventually land on the DL. The 33-year-old is only hitting .226/.350/.438 with seven home runs in 164 plate appearances this year.

Gordon Beckham went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two runs scored in a Braves' 7-2 win over the Marlins on Saturday.

With a couple runners on in the seventh inning, Beckham took an Edwin Jackson offering out to left-center for his second home run of the year. He also doubled and scored in the contest. Beckham has quietly been very good for the Braves in 27 games this year, batting .317/.417/.488 with 14 RBI and 11 runs scored.
