Hanley Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored Friday against the Rangers.

After failing to hit a home run through his first 22 games this month, Ramirez has now gone deep in back-to-back games. Perhaps his shoulder is finally feeling better.

Xander Bogaerts (forearm) went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly Friday against the Rangers.

Bogaerts suffered a bruised left forearm when he was hit by a pitch during Thursday's game, but he didn't end up missing any time. The 22-year-old is batting .263/.312/.369 with two home runs and 16 RBI through 46 games this season.

Stephen Strasburg was removed from Friday's start against the Reds after facing just five batters due to an issue with his left trap muscle.

He'll be re-evaluated on Saturday. With the shoulder ailment that he has been dealing with in recent weeks, combined with this new injury and his poor performance to date, a trip to the disabled list seems like a logical conclusion for the right-hander, but we'll know more on his status on Saturday. Taylor Jordan filled in admirably on Friday and would be the logical candidate to join the rotation should Strasburg require an extended absence.

Mike Napoli was ejected from Friday's game against the Rangers for arguing a called third strike call with home plate umpire Todd Tichenor.

Manager John Farrell came to his player's defense and was also given the gate. Before departing, Napoli had gone 0-for-2 with a pair of walks and a run scored.

Eric O'Flaherty is expected to make his final appearance in a minor league rehab game with High-A Stockton on Saturday before rejoining the Athletics bullpen.

He has been sidelined since early May with left shoulder inflammation. Before hitting the shelf, the 30-year-old southpaw posted a troublesome 11.57 ERA and 2.29 WHIP over seven innings of work out of the A's bullpen.

Chris Davis belted his 12th home run of the season as the Orioles topped the Rays 2-1 on Friday.

His solo shot off Kevin Jepsen tied the game at 1-1 in the seventh inning and provided the O's the opportunity to come back and win later on. He finished the night 2-for-3 and also drew a walk, raising his season slash to .228/.312/.506 to go along with 12 homers and 30 RBI.

Miguel Gonzalez pitched well in a no-decision against the Rays on Friday, allowing just one run on three hits over eight strong innings.

The veteran right-hander racked up six strikeouts on the night without issuing a walk. The only blemish on his evening was a solo homer off the bat of Steven Souza in the second inning. While he doesn't rack up elite strikeout numbers, Gonzalez owns a solid 3.48 ERA over 62 innings on the season. He'll look to get back in the win column when he takes on the Astros in Houston on Wednesday.
May 29 - 10:27 PM

Anthony DeSclafani gave up two runs over six innings in a 5-2 win over the Nationals on Friday.

DeSclafani held the Nationals to a pair of RBI singles. He gave up eight hits in all while walking two (one intentional) and striking out just one batter. This was his first win since April 20. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 3.41 ERA through 10 starts this season, but he owns a mediocre 41/25 K/BB ratio in 58 innings.
