Colby Rasmus (hip) said Saturday that he expects to open the season on the disabled list.

The veteran outfielder, who has been serving as the designated hitter in Grapefruit League play, said he isn't yet comfortable playing in the outfield and that manager Kevin Cash said that's a prerequisite for making the active roster. Even if he starts the season on the DL, it should only be for a week or two.

Astros released LHP C.J. Riefenhauser.

The 27-year-old southpaw wasn't going to crack the Opening Day bullpen, so releasing him now gives him time to potentially find another job before the start of the season. Riefenhauser posted a 2.35 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 5/7 K/BB ratio over 7 2/3 innings in Cactus League play.

Carlos Correa is not in the Astros starting lineup on Saturday due to illness.

The Astros are rolling out a lineup that looks similar to one they could field on Opening Day, minus Correa who's feeling a little under the weather. Expect him to return to game action in a day or two.

According to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register, Jesse Chavez has secured a spot in the Angels' Opening Day rotation.

The right-hander has pitched decently in Cactus League play, compiling a 4.32 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 8 1/3 innings. He joins Garrett Richards, Matt Shoemaker and Ricky Nolasco as locks to start the season in the rotation, while the fifth spot could be a revolving door until Tyler Skaggs is ready.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Friday that Matt Duffy's recent setback may not be with his surgically-repaired left heel.

Instead, it may simply be that the ankle and calf around the area need more strengthening. While it doesn't help to cut down his timeline for a return, it would be an encouraging development if there was no new issue with his heel. Tim Beckham is expected to hold down the shortstop position until Duffy is ready.

Indians manager Terry Francona confirmed Friday that Corey Kluber will start on Opening Day.

The veteran right-hander has been brought along slowly this spring after shouldering such a large workload on the Tribe's run to the seventh game of the World Series last year, but he looks ready to go now. When asked about it on Friday, Francona quipped, "There's no doubt in his mind he's pitching Opening Day, That's good enough for me."

Steve Pearce is making his first start in the outfield on Saturday in an exhibition against the Canadian junior team.

It isn't quite Grapefruit League action, but it's a very encouraging sign. Pearce is hitting cleanup and playing left field in that lineup. Barring any setbacks, he should be able to play the outfield on Opening Day as he has been targeting.

Miguel Rojas went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI on Friday, leading the Marlins to a 3-0 victory over the Nationals in Grapefruit League play.

It's just the ninth win for the Marlins on the spring season. Rojas' RBI double plated Ichiro Suzuki in the fourth inning, increasing the Marlins' lead to 2-0. He's hitting a robust .424 with a 1.096 OPS in limited action this spring and should secure a bench spot on the club's Opening Day roster.
