Starling Marte went 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs as the Pirates topped the Cardinals on Sunday.

Both of Marte's hits were singles and he was also hit by a pitch in the game. He has shown an alarming lack of power since returning from suspension, with just one home run and seven total extra-base hits in his 37 hits. For the season, Marte is hitting .278/.342/.372 with three homers, 15 RBI and 12 stolen bases.

Ivan Nova earned his 11th victory of the season on Sunday, limiting the Cardinals to three runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings.

Nova fanned five on the night and didn't walk a batter. He allowed a two-run homer to Jedd Gyorko in the second inning, but that was it until Kolten Wong's RBI single in the sixth. Now 11-10 on the year, Nova owns a 3.81 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 103/24 K/BB ratio in his 160 2/3 innings. He'll do battle against the Reds his next time out in Cincinnati on Friday.

Jedd Gyorko blasted a two-run homer as the Cardinals fell to the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Sunday night.

Mike Leake was clobbered in Sunday's loss to the Pirates, giving up six runs on eight hits over his three innings of work.

The right-hander struck out three and didn't walk a batter. Josh Bell inflicted most of the damage against him, crushing a two-run homer in the first inning and adding a two-run single in the third. Leake has fallen off of a cliff since his strong start to the season and now sports a 4.16 ERA and 1.35 WHIP on the season. He'll try to get back on track on Saturday against the Rays.

Eight representatives from the Dodgers' front office including president of baseball operations Andrew Freidman were in Japan on Sunday to scout Shohei Otani.

The Dodgers, like most other teams, have expressed interest in the two-way Japanese star who may decide to make the jump to Major League Baseball this winter. Otani thew a 58-pitch bullpen session prior to Sunday's game, then went 3-for-3 plus a walk for the Nippon Ham Fighters on Sunday. The Dodgers aren't able to exceed a $300k signing bonus for an international prospect during the 2017-2018 signing period, so they may hope that Otani waits an additional year to come stateside.

Joey Gallo suffered a non-displaced nasal fracture during his collision with teammate Matt Bush on Sunday.

He'll be re-examined on Monday before potentially joining the team in Los Angeles. In addition to the nose injury, he'll have to pass through the concussion protocol before he's cleared to rejoin the Rangers. It remains unclear if he'll require a trip to the disabled list, but it seems likely he'll miss at least a couple of games.
