Speaking Monday, Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Matt Jones (shoulder) is "progressing nicely."
That was the extent of Gruden's "update," but Jones seems to remain on track for Week 1. Jones has a ton to prove on the field, but his role makes him a low-end RB2 in fantasy drafts.
Redskins coach Jay Gruden says injured reserve is a possibility for RB Keith Marshall (elbow).
Marshall is only supposed to be sidelined three weeks, so it would be a drastic move. Of course, Marshall could be the player the Redskins stash to activate later. He's probably not important enough for that honor, however. Even with Matt Jones (shoulder) banged up, Marshall is completely off the re-draft radar.
Texans waived WR Josh Lenz, DT Ra'Zahn Howard, LB Carlos Thompson and OT Arturo Uzdavinis.
Lenz is a fourth-year UDFA who has never appeared in a regular season game.
Lions placed LB Jon Bostic on injured reserve with a broken foot, ending his season.
Bostic could apparently be the player the Lions activate off injured reserve, as he was given a 6-12 week timeline upon going down earlier this month. Bostic is a core special teamer, and was expected to be a key reserve for the Lions after they acquired him from the Patriots in May.
Broncos waived/released WR DeVier Posey, WR Durron Neal, TE Manasseh Garner, S Antonio Glover, DL Calvin Heurtelou, DT David Moala and LB Danrell Sankey.
Posey has made one appearance over the past two seasons. Both Posey and Neal were apparently having solid camps, but couldn't crack the Broncos' front-loaded receiver corps. Posey is only 26, but he's running out of NFL rope.
Lions released/waived TE Matthew Mulligan, CB Crezdon Butler, K Devon Bell, WR Quinshad Davis, OG Chase Farris, DE Deonte Gibson, DE Louis Palmer, CB Rashaad Reynolds and DE Quanterus Smith.
Mulligan is a 32-year-old blocking tight end. His experience will probably earn him an in-season look elsewhere.
Lions placed LS Jimmy Landes on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, ending his season.
Stunningly, using a draft pick on a long snapper turned out to be a poor investment. Landes will be back in 2017, where he'll compete to snap the snaps that are longer than normal snaps.
Rams released DE Quinton Coples.
The No. 16 overall pick of the 2012 draft, Coples struggled to get on the field for the Jets and Dolphins last season.
