Jean Segura went 0-for-2 and swiped his third base of the spring as the Mariners were no-hit at the hand of the Angels in Cactus League play on Friday.

Segura reached base on catcher's interference in the fourth inning and deftly swiped second base, which was really the highlight offensively for the M's in this one. Segura has had a nice spring, hitting .308 with a pair of homers and six RBI in 26 at-bats.

Ariel Miranda struggled in Friday's Cactus League loss to the Angels, surrendering four runs (three earned) on five hits over his four frames.

Miranda walked two and struck out two on the evening. The Angels pushed a pair of runs across in the second and tacked on another two in the third. He sports a troublesome 6.14 ERA on the spring and is expected to open the season in a long relief role for the M's.

Byron Buxton, hitting out of the third spot in the Twins' lineup, went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in Friday's Grapefruit League contest against the Orioles.

He has spent most of his time batting leadoff this spring, but Brian Dozier was there on Friday as manager Paul Molitor looks to be tinkering with potential lineups. The boost to his counting stats if he were to open the season hitting third could be substantial.

Ervin Santana was dominant in Friday's Grapefruit League start against the Orioles, racking up six strikeouts while not allowing an earned run over four innings.

The right-hander allowed just an unearned run on four hits and a pair of walks on the night. He looks to be in mid-season form already and is expected to take the ball on Opening Day for the Twins.

Trey Mancini clubbed his third home run of the Grapefruit League season on Friday as the Orioles and Twins played to a 5-5 tie.

His three-run shot off Drew Rucinski tied the game in the seventh inning. He finished the night 2-for-4 and is now hitting .333 with three bombs and 11 RBI on the spring. At this rate, it's hard to see him not winning a spot on the Opening Day bench.

Mike Wright was knocked around in Friday's Grapefruit League start against the Twins, surrendering five runs on seven hits in just two innings of work.

All of the damage against him came during a five-run uprising in the second inning. Wright is expected to reprise his role as a swing man in the O's bullpen to start the year while being the next man up should anyone in the rotation sustain an injury. His fantasy value is minimal.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the Indians and Jose Ramrirez have reached an agreement on a four-year, $26 million contract extension.

The deal will also include two club options at $11 million and $13 million respectively. In total, the deal could be worth more than $50 million over the six years and keep Ramirez in Cleveland through the 2023 season. Ramirez hit .312/.363/.462 with 11 homers, 76 RBI and 22 swipes during a breakout 2016 campaign.

Kennys Vargas was forced to leave Friday's Grapefruit League contest with a left foot contusion.

The Twins are calling him day-to-day and this isn't expected to put his Opening Day in jeopardy. He fouled a ball off of his foot and was hobbling around afterwards so he was lifted for precautionary reasons.
