Melvin Upton is not in the Padres' lineup Sunday.
It's interesting, obviously, with the rumors floating around regarding Upton being traded soon. For now, though, it doesn't appear anything is imminent. Alex Dickerson is in left field.
Mikie Mahtook (hand) will hit off a tee Sunday.
Mahtook has missed over a month of action with a fractured left hand. He probably won't be back until late August, at the earliest.
Andrew McCutchen is not in the Pirates' lineup Sunday.
It's a rare day off for the veteran outfielder. Starling Marte has slid over to center field, Gregory Polanco has moved to left and Matt Joyce is starting in right. The Pirates also have Sean Rodriguez at shortstop and David Freese at third base, as Jordy Mercer and Jung Ho Kang are on the bench.
Zack Cozart is absent from the Reds' lineup Sunday.
He's just getting a day off. Jose Peraza is filling in for Cozart at shortstop. Eugenio Suarez is also receiving a breather, as Ivan DeJesus Jr. is at third base.
Nationals optioned RHP Koda Glover to Triple-A Syracuse.
Glover was unscored upon in two relief appearances and looks like a potential weapon out of the bullpen over the long haul, but the Nats needed a roster spot for Lucas Giolito. The young reliever will be back eventually.
Nationals recalled RHP Lucas Giolito from Triple-A Syracuse.
Giolito will rejoin the Nats' rotation on Sunday against the Padres. He's been up and down in his two starts with the big club and probably isn't guaranteed anything beyond Sunday with Joe Ross (shoulder) due back soon. However, Giolito certainly makes for an interesting streaming option against San Diego.
Blue Jays recalled RHP Ryan Tepera from Triple-A Buffalo.
He's taking Drew Storen's spot in the bullpen. Tepera holds a 5.79 ERA over five relief appearances with the Jays this season.
Blue Jays designated RHP Drew Storen for assignment.
What a disaster of a season it's been for Storen, who has posted a 6.21 ERA over 38 appearances with the Jays. His velocity has also been down a bit, although he's struck out a batter per inning. Storen will almost surely clear waivers given his $8.375 million salary, although it's possible the Jays will be able to work out a trade.
