Brewers manager Ron Roenicke announced Saturday that Segura's nine-month-old son passed away on Friday. Our deepest condolences go out to Segura and to his family at this unfortunate and tragic time.

Yankees optioned RHP Matt Daley to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Daley was sent out to make room for Jeff Francis who arrived on Saturday. Over 12 appearances with the Bombers this season, he owns a 4.85 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 9/6 K/BB ratio over 13 innings.

Blue Jays recall OF Anthony Gose from Triple-A Buffalo.

With Nolan Reimold heading to the disabled list, Gose will once again provide depth in the outfield for the Jays. In 44 games this season, the 23-year-old is hitting .229/.333/.284 with five RBI, five stolen bases and a 32/16 K/BB ratio over 109 at-bats.

Blue Jays placed OF Nolan Reimold on the 15-day disabled list with a left calf strain.

Reimold sustained the injury running the bases during Friday's game. Anthony Gose was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move.

George Springer has returned to the Astros starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox.

The dynamic young outfielder was a late scratch from Friday's contest due to discomfort in his right knee. While it sounds like a nagging issue that could remain a problem off and on all season, he felt good enough to give it a go on Saturday. Through 74 games, he's hitting .238/.342/.475 with 19 homers, 50 RBI, five stolen bases and a league-leading 109 strikeouts.
Jul 12 - 12:37 PM

Cubs shortstop prospect Addison Russell went 2-for-5 for the second consecutive night for Double-A Tennessee.

Russell was 0-for-9 over his first two games, but has gone 4-for-10 over his last two games, bringing his Cubs-only line to .211/.211/.211 over four games. Russell is a better shortstop, both now and long-term, than Javier Baez, but the Cubs future infield is beyond crowded, with Arismendy Alcantara, Baez, Kris Bryant, and Russell making the case for three spots, one of which is already in the possession of 22-year old Starlin Castro.
Jul 12 - 12:27 PM

Stephen Drew is not in the Red Sox starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the Astros.

Brock Holt will draw the start in his place at shorstop while Xander Bogaerta covers third base. Drew continues to struggle offensively, slashing just .135/.198/.258 with two homers and five RBI through his first 27 games.

Matt Lindstrom (ankle) threw 30 pitches in a successful bullpen session on Saturday.

The veteran right-hander is finally making progress in his recovery since undergoing ankle surgery in May. He will throw another bullpen session over the All-Star break, and if all continues to go well, he could be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment at some point next two weeks.
