Fernando Rodney allowed a single, but was able to preserve the Mariners' three-run lead in the ninth inning in Tuesday's win over the Indians.

With back-to-back strikeouts to end the ninth inning, Rodney pushed his AL-best save total to 29. Only a handful of closers have been better than the veteran Rodney, who has blown only three saves and has a 2.11 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 48/17 K/BB ratio.

Dustin Ackley went 3-for-5 with a two-run double as the Mariners defeated the Indians on Tuesday.

Ackley drove in the middle two runs in a four-run fourth inning, doubling to right field off of Trevor Bauer. The 26-year-old has been red-hot since returning from the break, as he holds a .444 average (20-for-45) in 11 games since. The Mariners hope it's a sign of things to come, as Ackley's numbers overall aren't too great -- he has a .256/.303/.372 slash line with four home runs and 34 RBI.

Giancarlo Stanton went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in a win over the Nationals on Tuesday.

Stanton broke a scoreless tie with his 25th double of the season in the sixth inning. He added an RBI single in the eighth. The two runs batted in added to his NL-leading total of 71 RBI. It's shaping up to be a career year for the outfielder, who's hitting .293/.393/.535 overall.

Trevor Bauer was hit hard by the Mariners on Tuesday, surrendering five runs over 4 1/3 innings en route to a loss.

Bauer had been on a streak of four consecutive quality starts, but the Mariners were able to rip five extra-base hits -- including a Mike Zunino home run -- off of the right-hander. He allowed eight hits overall along with a walk and three strikeouts. Bauer will take a 4.25 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP into Sunday's home start against the Rangers.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Phillies have had no offers and "no meaningful dialogue" with teams inquiring on Cole Hamels.

Rosenthal adds that the Phils have also not made "any specific requests" in talks and a potential Hamels trade is the "least likely" to go down of all the ones Philly is contemplating. While Hamels may technically be on the trade block, Philadelphia understandably wants a ton in return and it's looking like teams probably won't be willing to give up what it would take. Hamels boasts a 2.55 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 133/39 K/BB ratio this season.

Christian Yelich had an RBI double and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.

In a 1-0 game in the eighth inning, Yelich hit a run-scoring double to give the Marlins some breathing room. It was his only hit in four at-bats on the night. The run scored later in the inning gives him 18 runs in July, a month in which he's hitting .320. He's got a few more games left this month to add to those numbers.

Hisashi Iwakuma improved to 9-5 after holding the Indians to two runs over seven innings in Tuesday's win.

Iwakuma won for the first time in more than two weeks, a long overdue achievement. The right-hander held the Indians to six hits and a walk while striking out six. He rounds out the month of July with a strong 2.32 ERA. Overall, he has a 3.06 ERA with a 0.99 WHIP and a 94/9 K/BB ratio. Iwakuma will wrap up the Mariners' road trip on Sunday when he takes on the Orioles.

Jordany Valdespin went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored in a win over the Nationals on Tuesday.

The multi-hit game was Valdespin's first since being recalled 10 days ago, and he's now hitting .267/.290/.500 in those 10 games. He's started eight of those 10 games as he's been splitting time between the outfield and second base, but the 26-year-old is nothing more than a fringy NL-only option at this point.
