Yangervis Solarte belted his fourth home run of the season in Saturday's loss to the Cardinals.

His solo blast off Cardinals starter Carlos Martinez in the fourth inning wound up being the extent of the Padres offense in the contest. He finished the day 1-for-4 and is now hitting .249/.298/.378 with four homers and 30 RBI on the season.
Jul 4 - 4:59 PM

Odrisamer Despaigned pitched well in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Saturday, allowing just one run on four hits over his five frames.

The right-hander punched out three and walked just one on the afternoon. He has done a serviceable job as a replacement for the injured Brandon Morrow, posting a 4.75 ERA and 46/17 K/BB ratio in 83 1/3 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column on Friday when he takes on the Rangers in Texas.

Carlos Frias (back) is questionable for Monday's start against the Phillies.

His MRI came back clean and he was able to throw a bullpen session on Saturday. Even against the Phillies, Frias wouldn't be an enticing fantasy option. Opponents have hit .311 against him and his K/9 is a disappointing 5.17.
Jul 4 - 4:56 PM

Clay Buchholz allowed one run in a complete-game victory over the Astros on Saturday.

It was his ninth career complete game and his first since last August 31. Buchholz went into the top of the ninth with a chance at seventh career shutout, but Luis Valbuena hit a two-out RBI single. He fanned eight and walked none in the victory. Buchholz has been on quite the roll of late, allowing just three earned runs combined over his last four starts. His ERA is down to 3.27 for the year.
Jul 4 - 4:51 PM

Collin McHugh yielded four runs (three earned) over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Saturday.

McHugh was coming off two strong outings, but he struggled in this one, allowing seven hits and three walks. He struck out just one of the 28 batters he faced. McHugh fell to 9-4 with the loss and owns a disappointing 4.54 ERA through 17 starts on the year. He'll get the Indians on the road next week.
Jul 4 - 4:50 PM

Mookie Betts went 2-for-3 with three RBI, a walk, and a run scored in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Astros.

Betts knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly in the second inning before adding RBI doubles in the sixth and eighth innings. He's now tied with David Ortiz and Hanley Ramirez for the team lead with 41 RBI.
Jul 4 - 4:49 PM

Xander Bogaerts was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a walk against the Astros on Saturday.

Bogaerts had an RBI single in the first inning before knocking in another run with a double in the fifth. He's hitting .375 over his last 13 games and has raised his overall line to .302/.340/.416 on the year.
Jul 4 - 4:49 PM

Shane Victorino went 2-for-4 with two runs scored on Saturday against the Astros.

It was his first game action since being activated from the disabled list on Friday. Victorino got the start against right-hander Collin McHugh, but he'll likely be on the short side of a platoon with Alejandro De Aza in right field.
