An MRI taken Saturday morning on the right arm of Jordan Zimmermann showed a biceps strain.

The good news is Zimmermann has no structural damage and might be able to avoid a disabled list stint (with the help of the All-Star break). The right-hander left his start Friday night against the Phillies with what was initially labeled a biceps cramp. He wraps up the first half of the season with a 3.03 ERA and 1.21 WHIP.

Drew Pomeranz (hand) allowed one run over four innings Saturday in his rehab debut at Triple-A Sacramento.

He struck out seven, walked none, and yielded just one hit -- a solo home run. The left-hander is expected to remain at Sacramento when he's deemed healthy as an emergency option for the Oakland rotation. He's been out since June 17 with a broken right hand.

Andrew McCutchen homered twice to lead the Pirates past the Reds 6-5 on Saturday night.

McCutchen smacked a game-tying solo homer in the top of the ninth inning and then a go-ahead solo shot in the top of the 11th. The reigning National League MVP also doubled in the game. He's batting .325/.422/.573 with 17 homers, 61 RBI, and 15 steals this year for the Bucs.

Ernesto Frieri walked both of the batters he faced in the 10th inning Saturday versus the Reds.

Luckily for the Pirates, left-hander Justin Wilson was able to eliminate that threat. Pittsburgh went on to win in the bottom of the 10th. Frieri has allowed 11 baserunners and recorded only 12 outs since joining the Bucs. He's not going to see a save opportunity anytime soon.

Ryan Zimmerman hit a go-ahead RBI single in the top of the 10th Saturday in a 5-3 win over the Phillies.

It was the only hit of the game for Zimmerman, but it was obviously a big one. He's batting .272/.342/.428 with 28 RBI in 47 games this season for the Nationals, who are tied with the Braves atop the National League East.
Jul 12 - 11:25 PM

Stephen Strasburg held the Phillies to two runs in 5 2/3 innings Saturday in a Nationals victory.

Strasburg was left with a no-decision because the Nats didn't win the game until the 10th inning. The right-hander struck out nine batters and will head into the All-Star break having registered a 3.46 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 149/22 K/BB ratio across 125 first-half innings.
Jul 12 - 11:22 PM

Brad Miller was ejected from Saturday's game versus the A's.

Miller was arguing balls and strikes. He finished the game 0-for-1 with a walk and a strikeout.
Jul 12 - 11:20 PM

Jake Diekman was ejected from Saturday night's game against the Nationals.

Diekman pitched one inning, allowing two runs on one hit and one strikeout before being ejected. He has 61 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings this season but a 4.53 ERA.
