Colts signed WR DeAndre Smelter to a reserve/future contract.

A 2015 fourth-round pick of the 49ers, Smelter came out of Georgia Tech with mouth-watering traits but has battled injuries and coaching turnover in his career. The futures deal will allow him to spend a full healthy offseason with Indy.

The player rep for free agent Jarvis Landry told the Palm Beach Post his client will not accept a hometown discount from the Dolphins.

The Dolphins spent the entire 2017 season trying to trade Landry, so this isn't a surprise. "Take a discount? Absolutely not," said agent Damarious Bilbo. "This may be Jarvis’ first and last time to set himself up and his family up. He needs to strike and strike while the iron is hot." Landry is expected to target elite No. 1 receiver money. Davante Adams' recent four-year, $58 million extension figures to be a baseline for Landry's asking price.

A source told ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss that Tom Brady's injured hand "should be okay" for Sunday's AFC title game versus Jacksonville.

It's believed Brady jammed his throwing hand when a teammate accidentally ran into him on the practice field. Reports indicate it was a minor injury, although Brady may sit out Thursday's practice as a precaution. Particularly after they traded Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett, the Patriots badly need Brady under center. Their fallback option would be journeyman Brian Hoyer.

New Texans GM Brian Gaine said a contract extension for Jadeveon Clowney is "on the horizon."

"Right now, I'm in an evaluative period in terms of studying the roster and studying the team and learning the players in terms of how they performed," said Gaine at his introductory press conference. "But certainly a player that's valued by the Texans organization, and in time, as we go through that process, we'll arrive to that conclusion." Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle suggests Clowney's next contract could surpass the six-year, $114.1 million deal inked by Von Miller in 2016. That would make Clowney the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. The former first overall pick will earn $13.846 million in the final year of his rookie contract.

According to Kent Somers of AZ Central Sports, DC James Bettcher is still a candidate for the Cardinals' head-coaching vacancy.

The Cardinals' coaching search is beginning to take shape. Falcons special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong and Panthers DC Steve Wilks have been granted second interviews while Steelers OL coach Mike Munchak and Vikings OC Pat Shurmur have both bowed out. Patriots LBs coach Brian Flores is also in the running to replace Bruce Arians, though he won't be able to interview this week with New England preparing for its AFC title bout with Jacksonville. Bettcher was the first candidate the Cardinals interviewed back on January 3. Because he's been with the team for five years, Bettcher won't require a second interview.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, ex-Steelers OC Todd Haley is a candidate for the Jets' vacancy at offensive coordinator.

It seems like fate that the Jets would part ways with OC John Morton on the same day that the Steelers decided not to renew Haley's contract. Haley is familiar with head coach Todd Bowles, having worked with him when both were assistants to Bill Parcells in Dallas. The Browns, who are prepared to hire an OC for the first time under Hue Jackson, might also be an option for Haley.

Falcons special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong will have a second interview for the Cardinals' head-coaching vacancy.

Steelers OL coach Mike Munchak was also offered a second interview, but declined the invitation. Armstrong has over two decades of NFL experience but has never been a head coach. Patriots LBs coach Brian Flores and Panthers DC Steve Wilks have also been linked to the opening in Arizona.

Panthers DC Steve Wilks' interview for the Titans' head-coaching vacancy has been postponed.

Wilks was slated to meet with Tennessee on Wednesday but snow threw a wrench in that plan. The Titans also have sit-downs scheduled with Rams OC Matt LaFleur and Texans DC Mike Vrabel.
