Braves designated LHP Donnie Veal for assignment.
Veal allowed four earned runs in 3 1/3 innings of relief with Atlanta, but he's a left-hander so he will probably draw some interest on waivers. The 30-year-old owns a 5.16 ERA in 68 career major league frames.
According to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Devin Mesoraco still hasn't tried squatting and is trying to avoid surgery for his left hip impingement.
Mesoraco hasn't started a game since April 11 due to the hip impingement, yet the Reds have opted against placing him on the disabled list. He will be able to DH during the Reds' upcoming weekend series against the White Sox, so a decision on a potential surgery will presumably be held off until then. Mesoraco would be out for four months if he does ultimately have to go under the knife.
Zack Cozart (finger) is available off the bench for Tuesday night's game against the Pirates.
Cozart suffered a bruised right index finger Sunday while trying to field a grounder. He's not in the Reds' starting lineup Tuesday but might be able to return Wednesday. Kristopher Negron is at shortstop versus the Bucs.
Josh Harrison is not in the Pirates' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Reds.
It's a day of mental and physical rest for Harrison, who's batting just .188/.220/.313 in 23 games this season. Jung Ho Kang is starting at third base and batting seventh for the Pirates on Tuesday night.
Leonys Martin (wrist) is not in the Rangers' starting lineup on Tuesday against the Astros.
Martin injured his left wrist Monday while trying to make a catch. X-rays turned up negative, but he has some soreness. Delino DeShields Jr. is in center field and batting eighth for the Rangers on Tuesday night.
Steve Pearce is out Tuesday with a stomach virus.
The illness drove him from Sunday's series finale against the Rays and he's still apparently dealing with some symptoms. Pearce will aim to return on Wednesday.
David Wright (hamstring) is expected to begin running the bases by Thursday.
And if he looks good doing that, he could start playing in rehab games by the weekend. Wright has been on the disabled list since April 14 because of a right hamstring strain. He's around 10 days from rejoining the Mets.
Jose Iglesias (groin) is not the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox.
Iglesias left Sunday's game against the Royals after feeling tightness in his left groin. He was hopeful that he would be able to start on Tuesday, but the Tigers are going to give him at least another day of rest. Andrew Romine starts in his place.
