Dallas Keuchel pitched six innings and allowed two runs in a no-decision against the Royals on Wednesday.

Keuchel left with a two-run lead, but that was promptly blown in the seventh. We like Keuchel, but pitching for such a weak team will limit his fantasy upside this season, probably leaving him without any value in shallow mixed leagues.

Jorge De La Rosa hurled his first quality start of the season, allowing three runs -- two earned -- on seven hits over six innings in a 4-2 loss to the Padres on Wednesday.

The left-hander whiffed four and walked one. As implied above, this was by far De La Rosa's best start of the season, as he logged only 4 1/3 frames in each one of his first three outings. He's 0-3 with a 7.58 ERA, but look beneath the surface and you see a 1.42 WHIP and 20/8 K/BB ratio that suggest things haven't been as quite as bad as they appear. De La Rosa and the Rockies host San Francisco on Monday.

Marc Krauss went 2-for-4 and hit his first homer of the season Wednesday against the Royals.

Since George Springer wasn't on the 40-man roster, the Astros could call him up today and not have him be eligible for free agency until after 2020. Jonathan Singleton, on the other hand, is on the 40-man and thus would still be eligible for free agency after 2019 if he were called up immediately. Singleton's timetable can be pushed back a year starting next week, and unless Krauss can come up with a few more big hits before then, he might be in danger of losing his spot.

George Springer went 1-for-5 with a walk and a caught stealing in his major league debut Wednesday against the Royals.

Springer's hit was a little tapper that he beat out. He also scored one of the Astros' four runs tonight.
Apr 17 - 1:00 AM

L.J. Hoes went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in the loss to the Royals on Wednesday.

Hoes is fortunate Robbie Grossman got off to a poor start or he'd have been the one sent to the minors or at least given a reduced role to make room for George Springer. As is, he's still battling Alex Presley for starts and he's only guaranteed to be in there against lefties.

Michael Pineda allowed four hits over six innings as the Yankees shut out the Cubs 2-0 in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader.

The Yankees shut out the Cubs in both ends of the doubleheader. Pineda picked up his second win by throwing 89 pitches on a chilly evening. He allowed four hits, walked one and struck out three. Obviously, he shouldn't be unowned in any mixed leagues at this point.
Apr 16 - 11:54 PM

Adam Warren pitched a hitless ninth in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader to pick up a save against the Cubs.

Warren is supposed to be more of a swingman-type, but he's looked good in short relief so far, pitching seven scoreless innings with his velocity up a bit. It won't lead to many more save chances, but he's poised to be a more useful piece of the Yankees pen than he was last year.
Apr 16 - 11:52 PM

Derek Jeter returned to action in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader and went 1-for-5 against the Cubs.

Jeter missed three games due to quad soreness.
