Daniel Murphy delivered a go-ahead two-run single with two outs in the eighth inning on Sunday night, leading the Nationals to an 8-6 victory over the Phillies.

Phillies' closer Seranthony Dominguez intentionally walked rookie Juan Soto to load the bases in order to face Murphy in the eighth inning with the Nationals trailing by a run. He fell behind in the count 1-2, but was able to then serve a two-run single into left field to give the Nationals their first lead of the night. Murphy finished the night 3-for-4 (all singles) and also drew a walk, raising his season slash to .195/.233/.220 through his first 43 plate appearances.

Bryce Harper went 3-for-5 with three doubles and a pair of runs scored as the Nationals rallied late to beat the Phillies.

Harper struck out in each of his first two plate appearances before making adjustments. He had an RBI double with two outs in the sixth inning that pulled the Nationals to within two runs at 6-4, then doubled and scored as part of the critical go-ahead rally in the eighth. With the three-hit attack, he's hitting .219/.356/.479 to go with 19 homers, 46 RBI and six stolen bases.

Sean Doolittle shut down the Phillies in the ninth inning on Sunday, protecting a two-run advantage to earn his 21st save of the season.

The left-hander has been outstanding this year, converting all but one of his first 22 save chances while registering a minuscule 1.60 ERA and 0.53 WHIP. As long as he remains healthy, he should continue to produce as an upper-echelon closing option in all fantasy leagues. The only thing that holds him back from elite territory is his lack of strikeouts compared to the rest of the position.

Jefry Rodriguez struggled in a no-decision against the Phillies on Sunday, surrendering five runs (four earned) on five hits over his four-plus innings of work.

The rookie right-hander walked three and struck out three on the night. He served up a two-run homer to Rhys Hoskins in the third inning, and the rest of the damage against him came during an uprising in the fifth that chased him from the game. If he sticks around in the rotation to make another start, which could depend on the health of Jeremy Hellickson, Rodriguez will get another opportunity against these Phillies on Saturday in Philadelphia.

Seranthony Dominguez suffered his first blown save of the season in Sunday's loss to the Nationals.

The 23-year-old right-hander had been the most dominant arm in the Phillies' bullpen and had successfully converted each of his first four save chances on the season. He came on with a man on and a man out in the eighth inning and promptly allowed a double to Bryce Harper. After getting Anthony Rendon on a weak ground ball with the infield in, the Nationals walked Juan Soto intentionally to load the bases. That set the stage for Daniel Murphy to serve a two-run single into right field to sink the Phillies. Dominguez should still have a decent amount of security in the closer's role and still owns a terrific 2.28 ERA and 0.72 WHIP in his 23 2/3 innings on the year.

Rhys Hoskins blasted a two-run homer and swiped his fourth base of the season as the Phillies fell to the Nationals on Sunday Night Baseball.

Hoskins opened the scoring in the ballgame with a two-run bomb off of Nationals' starter Jefry Rodriguez in the third inning. He also singled and scored a pair of runs in the contest, finishing the night 2-for-4. Hoskins is now slashing .257/.379/.478 with 11 homers, 43 RBI and four stolen bases.

Nick Pivetta pitched well in a no-decision against the Nationals on Sunday night, racking up seven strikeouts over five innings of two-run baseball.

Pivetta allowed eight hits and a pair of walks in the ballgame. All of the damage against him came in the fourth inning, which included a solo home run by Anthony Rendon. He also sat through nearly an hour-long rain delay and returned to work a scoreless fifth inning. He left in line for a victory, but the Phillies' bullpen was unable to hold his lead for him. Pivetta will carry a 4.06 ERA and 1.23 WHIP into a rematch against the Nationals at home on Friday.

Jhoulys Chacin was touched up for eight earned runs, nine hits and five walks with five strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a loss against the Cardinals on Sunday.

Chacin threw just 52 of his 89 pitches for strikes, and he posted just 12 first-pitch strikes to the 27 batters he faced. He also set a season-high with five walks issued. His ERA jumped from 3.18 to 3.82 as a result of the poor outings, its highest mark since May 10. He'll look to get back on track Saturday in Cincinnati opposite Tyler Mahle.
