Adrian Gonzalez was diagnosed with a right hand contusion after being hit by a pitch during Sunday's game against the Mets.

Gonzalez appears to have avoided any significant injuries after being drilled by Steven Matz on Sunday. He should be considered day-to-day.

Derek Holland (shoulder) threw 30 pitches in a successful bullpen session on Sunday.

He's scheduled to repeat the process again on Tuesday and Thursday, and if all goes well he could then be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment. Holland remains on track to rejoin the Rangers rotation in late July.

Padres OF prospect Hunter Renfroe homered as part of a two-hit performance Saturday for Double-A San Antonio.

It was Renfroe's fifth multi-hit game in a row. During that stretch, his average has spiked from .236 to .255. Renfroe's strikeout numbers are still too high (74 punch-outs in 267 at-bats) but the Padres have to be encouraged by his .309 average since June 1. Before that, he was hitting just .224.
Jul 5 - 5:52 PM

Caleb Joseph went 1-for-4 with a two-run double in Sunday's win over the White Sox.

Joseph put the Orioles up 4-0 with his two-run double in the sixth inning, then capped off a four-run seventh inning with a run-scoring ground out. In 181 at-bats this season, he's slashing .238/.312/.376 with five homers and 24 RBI. Considering his limited at-bats, it's been a productive enough season, though there's no fantasy intrigue here.
Jul 5 - 5:51 PM

Melky Cabrera went 1-for-3 with an RBI double in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.

The double was his 11th of the season, the RBI his 30th. Cabrera has played well of late with a triple, two doubles and two homers in his last seven games, but he's still slashing just .259/.299/.330 for the year. He's hit three home runs in 309 at-bats.
Jul 5 - 5:45 PM

Red Sox 2B prospect Yoan Moncada contributed two hits Saturday for Low-A Greenville.

That gives Moncada four two-hit games in his last nine contests. Over that span, he's hit .314 with two RBI. The 20-year-old has only managed a .234 average in his first 34 minor league games, but he already has 10 steals without getting caught. He joined the Red Sox in March and received a $31.5 million signing bonus.
Jul 5 - 5:41 PM

Miguel Gonzalez pitched well in Sunday's win over the White Sox, yielding one run on four hits over six innings.

Gonzalez struck out three and walked one in the contest. Melky Cabrera struck him for an RBI double in the sixth inning, but it was otherwise an uneventful start for the 31-year-old right-hander. The start could be viewed as a microcosm of his season. Solid, if unspectacular, as he now holds a 7-5 record, 3.87 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 67/28 K/BB ratio over 88 1/3 innings. The Orioles will certain take this kind of reliability, as should those who happen to own him in deeper AL-only formats. He'll take to the road against the Nationals in his last start before the All-Star Break.
Jul 5 - 5:39 PM

Jayson Werth (wrist) was able to take swings with a fungo bat for the first time on Saturday.

Nationals manager Matt Williams called it "significant progress" for the injured outfielder who is recovering from a fractured wrist. He isn't expected to be ready to rejoin the Nationals lineup until early August, but is at least making strides in the right direction.
