Tigers OF/INF prospect JaCoby Jones homered and drove in two runs Tuesday in Triple-A Toledo's loss to Durham.

He also recorded his 10th stolen base. His three hits matched a season-high while Jones' two-run homer in the seventh was his first round-tripper in over a month. Jones has had a tough time adjusting to Triple-A, batting only .231 with 57 strikeouts in 169 at-bats. He hit .312 with four homers and 20 RBI for Double-A Erie before getting called up in early June.

Giancarlo Stanton slugged his 22nd home run of the season Wednesday versus the Phillies.

It was a two-run blast in the bottom of the first inning off Phillies starter Zach Eflin. Stanton also managed a single in the 11-1 rout, finishing the day 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI. He seems to have survived the Home Run Derby.

Adam Conley threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings Wednesday in the Marlins' 11-1 rout of the Phillies.

Conley was staked to a 3-0 lead after the first inning and went into cruise control, scattering eight hits -- all singles -- across his 6 2/3 shutout frames. The left-hander can now boast a 3.21 ERA and 155 strikeouts over his last 162 2/3 innings dating back to August 2015. He was one of Rotoworld's favorite fantasy sleepers leading into the 2016 campaign. Up next is a tough road matchup against the Cubs.

Zach Eflin surrendered seven earned runs over five innings Wednesday in a loss to the Mets.

Miami jumped all over Eflin and kept it rolling against the Philadelphia bullpen, racking up a total of 11 runs on 16 hits and seven walks. Eflin yielded nine of those hits and four of those walks. It was a much different picture than his last outing, a three-hit shutout against the Pirates. The young right-hander will try to bounce back next week against the Giants.

Rockies RHP prospect Jeff Hoffman scattered three hits and one unearned run Tuesday in a win for Triple-A Albuquerque.

The win halted a four-game losing streak for Hoffman, who has pitched to a 3.95 ERA in 19 starts this year. Hoffman finished the night with seven strikeouts, bringing his season total to 110. That ranks third in the Pacific Coast League behind Nashville's Chris Smith and Oklahoma City right-hander Jharel Cotton. Rockies manager Walt Weiss recently hinted that Hoffman could be close to making his big-league debut. It would be a mild upset if Hoffman isn't among the Rockies' September call-ups.

Ramiro Pena was scratched from the Giants' lineup on Wednesday due to a sore groin.

Pena took a baseball to a bad place on Tuesday night and wasn't feeling so hot during pregame drills on Wednesday. Grant Green will start at second base versus the Reds.

White Sox recalled INF Carlos Sanchez from Triple-A Charlotte.

Sanchez will give the White Sox much-needed infield depth with Brett Lawrie (hamstring) landing on the disabled list. He should see some starts at second base, but there's not much fantasy intrigue here.
Jul 27 - 3:08 PM

White Sox placed INF Brett Lawrie on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 22, with a hamstring strain.

Lawrie suffered the injury last Thursday and wasn't making enough progress on the side. He should be ready in early August. Carlos Sanchez will join the White Sox in a corresponding 25-man roster move.
