Rockies placed Justin Morneau on the 15-day disabled list with a cervical strain and concussion symptoms.

Morneau had been on the 7-day concussion disabled list since May 16 but simply wasn't improving quickly enough. There remains no clear timetable for his return to the Rockies lineup. Wilin Rosario and Ben Paulsen will continue to see the bulk of playing time at first base in his absence.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia admitted after Friday's game that Joe Smith was unavailable due to a knot in his neck.

While the issue isn't believed to be serious, it does affect his delivery and Smith is receiving treatment for it. He should return to game action at some point over the weekend. The 31-year-old hurler boasts a 3.80 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 22/6 K/BB ratio over 21 1/3 innings on the season.

Ben Revere is expected to share time in right field with Jeff Francoeur now that Cody Asche has been recalled to play left field for the Phillies.

That will certainly cut into Revere's fantasy value, as it's hard to steal bases if you aren't on the field. The 27-year-old is hitting .263/.303/.342 with no homers, 15 RBI and nine stolen bases on the season.

Derek Norris delivered a walkoff grand slam as the Padres beat the Pirates 6-2 on Friday.

Rob Scahill walked the first batter he faced in a 2-2 game, then threw the ball away handling a sac bunt, putting runners on second and third. An intentional walk followed to lead the bases. Scahill almost escaped from there, getting grouders from Alexi Amarista and Yangervis Solarte that both resulted in outs at home. However, Norris ended it with a big blast. It was just his fourth homer, but he has 32 RBI already.

Craig Kimbrel recorded his first win in relief after pitching a perfect ninth in a tie game against the Pirates on Friday.

Kimbrel struck out two of the three batters he faced. He hasn't thrown many perfect innings this year -- this was his first since May 8 -- but three nice outings in a row could be taken as an indication that he's on the right track.
May 30 - 2:07 AM

Francisco Liriano tossed six shutout innings and struck out 11 Padres on Friday.

Liriano left with a two-run lead, but that was promptly blown in the seventh. He has just two wins on the year, even through he's allowed one or no runs five times in 10 starts. His fantasy value hasn't matched how well he's pitched.
May 30 - 2:05 AM

Buster Posey drove in three runs with a homer and a double as the Giants topped the Braves 4-2 on Friday.

Following a quiet April, Posey has hit .333 with five homers, 17 RBI and 17 runs scored in May. He's also on pace to walk more than he's struck out for the first time in his career (17/20 K/BB).
May 30 - 2:02 AM

Tim Hudson pitched seven strong innings, allowing just one run, in a win over the Braves on Friday.

It was the first time Hudson faced the Braves since wrapping up his nine-year stint in Atlanta in 2013 (he did pitch against them once while with the A's). He's struggled to string together consecutive quality starts this season, but he still looks pretty good when he's on. His days as a mixed-league starter seem over, but he should provide value in NL-only leagues the rest of the way.
