Luis Severino improved to 11-2 after allowing three runs in 5 2/3 innings Thursday against the Mariners.

It was far from Severino's best outing of the year, but it was just good enough in what ended up being a 4-3 game. It's only the fourth time in 16 starts that Severino has allowed as many as three runs and also the fourth time that he failed to complete six innings (he's pitched at least five in every start). The Yankees are 14-2 when he pitches.

Orioles sent DH/INF Pedro Alvarez outright to Triple-A Norfolk.

James Paxton lost Thursday after allowing four runs in five innings against the Yankees.

All of the runs came in the first; he gave up a two-run bomb to Aaron Judge and then a two-run Yankee Stadium homer to Miguel Andujar that would have been an out pretty much anywhere else. Paxton bounced back nicely afterwards and ended up striking out nine, but unlike last week against the Red Sox, the Mariners offense failed to bail him out this time. The loss was his first since March 31 against the Indians.

Dodgers released OF Mitchell Hansen.

A second-round pick in 2015, Hansen was hitting just .231 with two homers in 32 games for Low-A Great Lakes. The 22-year-old owns a .256 lifetime average with 25 homers across 953 minor league at-bats.

Aaron Judge hit his first homer in 12 days and walked Thursday against the Mariners.

Judge hit a two-run homer off James Paxton in the first inning. His June hasn't measured up to his first two months, but .254 with four homers and 10 RBI in 18 games isn't all that bad.
Jun 21 - 4:15 PM

Kyle Seager finished 2-for-4 with a homer against the Yankees on Thursday.

Seager took Luis Severino deep for his 13th homer of the year. His OBP has been sitting right around .280 for a month now, but at least the power numbers are solid.

Chris Davis remains sidelined for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

The slumping first baseman hasn't suited up for the Orioles in over a week. Manager Buck Showalter said Wednesday that Davis was close to returning, though there's still no indication when he might be back. The 32-year-old's .454 OPS ranks dead-last among qualified hitters. Mark Trumbo will get the nod at first base for Thursday night's series finale.
Jun 21 - 4:12 PM

Mitch Haniger went 0-for-4 on Thursday to finish the series against the Yankees 1-for-13.

Haniger has still been a very valuable player for the Mariners this season, but he hasn't been a very good hitter these last six weeks; he's batting .232/.310/.384 in 151 at-bats since May 10.
