Felix Doubront has officially been confirmed as the Blue Jays' starter on Tuesday in Chicago.

It had been the assumption that he was taking the ball as long as he wasn't need in relief the last couple days, and he was not. Doubront posted a 2.44 ERA and 43/18 K/BB ratio over 48 innings at Triple-A Buffalo and allowed one run over 2 1/3 relief frames last Friday with the big club.

Jorge Soler went 2-for-3 with a double, but the Cubs lost Monday's game 6-0 to the Cardinals.

Soler was the only Cub to register multiple hits, and he was also the only Cub to register an extra-base hit on the evening. He went 0-for-3 on Sunday, his first game back since being activated from the disabled list following an ankle injury. The 23-year-old is hitting .267/.322/.405 with four home runs and 19 RBI this season.
Jul 7 - 12:18 AM

Kolten Wong did a little bit of everything in Monday's win against the Cubs, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored, an a stolen base.

Wong was mired in a slump, entering the game 2-for-20 in his last six games. He added what was at the time a crucial insurance run, singling in Jason Heyward in the seventh inning to make it 2-0. He scored as part of a four-run ninth inning as well. The second baseman, snubbed for the NL All-Star team, is hitting .281/.339/.444 with nine home runs, 36 RBI, 43 runs scored, and eight stolen bases.

John Lackey hurled seven shutout innings to earn the win against the Cubs on Monday.

Opposing starter Jon Lester was attempting to throw a no-hitter, but Lackey was still able to outlast him. He limited the Cubs to six hits and a walk while striking out four. Aside from one horrific start on June 8, Lackey has been brilliant this season, sporting a 3.09 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and an 81/27 K/BB ratio in 110 2/3 innings. He makes one more first half start in Pittsburgh against the Pirates ahead of the All-Star break.
Jul 7 - 12:14 AM

Jon Lester brought a no-hitter into the seventh inning, but ultimately lost it and the game on Monday after giving up two unearned runs in seven innings against the Cardinals.

The highlight of the game may have been Jon Lester ending a career-long 0-for-66 skid at the plate when he beat out an infield single in the second inning. He brought a no-hit bid into the seventh inning but lost it when Jhonny Peralta, fittingly, reached on an infield single. Kris Bryant later committed an error, which set up two unearned runs. Lester allowed two hits overall, walked two, and struck out eight on the evening. Lester has pitched quite well after a tough April, owning a 3.48 ERA on the year with a 1.28 WHIP and a 101/30 K/BB ratio in 103 1/3 innings. He wraps up his first half with a home start against the White Sox.
Jul 7 - 12:11 AM

Matt Wisler earned his third win in four starts, limiting the Brewers to three runs in 5 2/3 innings as the Braves earned a 5-3 victory on Monday.

Wisler allowed seven hits and a walk while striking out six. One run came on a Gerardo Parra home run in the first inning. The Brewers tacked on run-scoring singles in the fifth and sixth innings. Wisler has been solid since making his major league debut on June 19, sporting a 3.13 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP and a 14/6 K/BB ratio in 23 innings. He'll take on the Rockies at Coors Field next, so fantasy owners should be cautious in starting him.
Jul 6 - 11:50 PM

Kyle Lohse continued to struggle, giving up four runs on 11 hits in five innings, taking the loss on Monday against the Braves.

The 11 hits matches a season-high for the right-hander, who also walked one while striking out four. Two runs came in the first inning on Kelly Johnson's home run, and two more came in the second inning on a Nick Markakis RBI double and a Johnson single. Lohse has had a miserable year, carrying a 6.29 ERA with a 1.43 WHIP and a 74/23 K/BB ratio over 103 innings. He'll try to salvage his final start of the first half in L.A. against the Dodgers.
Jul 6 - 11:47 PM

Gerardo Parra clubbed another home run in a 2-for-4 effort against the Braves in a loss on Monday.

Parra halved the Brewers' deficit to 2-1 with a solo home run in the first inning against Matt Wisler. The outfielder has hit three home runs in his last four games and is now on a six-game hitting streak. He has eight home runs, 26 RBI, 39 runs scored, and a .311/.347/.492 triple-slash line on the year.
