Joey Gallo (hamstring) is back in Tuesday's Cactus League lineup.
Gallo has been dealing with soreness in his left hamstring in recent days, but he's ready to get back into game action out of the DH spot. The young slugger is expected to begin the year in the minors.
Diamondbacks re-signed OF Gregor Blanco to a minor league contract.
The Diamondbacks were forced to release Blanco on Monday, but it didn't take the two sides long to hammer out a new agreement. The veteran outfielder is expected to begin the season with Triple-A Reno. He's useful depth to have around.
Rangers released LHP Jeff Malm.
The Rangers inked Malm to a minor league deal back in January. The 26-year-old was originally drafted as a first baseman and corner outfielder, but he made the switch to the mound a couple of years back. He had a 2.06 ERA and 57/13 K/BB ratio in 48 innings last season between the Dodgers' High-A and Double-A affiliates.
White Sox reassigned LHP Matt Purke to Triple-A Charlotte.
Purke struggled during his first stint in the majors in 2016 and was removed from Chicago's 40-man roster back in December. The 26-year-old will function as bullpen depth in Triple-A.
White Sox reassigned LHP Cory Luebke to minor league camp.
Luebke, a non-roster invitee, allowed four runs (one earned) with a 6/3 K/BB ratio over 9 1/3 innings this spring. The 32-year-old has had all sorts of injury issues in recent years and struggled with the Pirates last year. He'll try to put himself back on the map in Triple-A.
Rays acquired OF Peter Bourjos from the White Sox for cash considerations or a player to be named later.
The deal was reported on Monday night and is now official. Bourjos batted just .251/.292/.389 over 123 games with the Phillies last season, but he's a right-handed bat with experience at all three outfield positions. He'll begin the year with a spot on the Rays' bench.
Twins optioned LHP Buddy Boshers to Triple-A Rochester; reassigned INF Tommy Field to minor league camp.
Boshers was tagged for 11 runs in 9 1/3 innings of work this spring. The 28-year-old appeared in 37 games with the Twins last season and will serve as bullpen depth in the minors.
Martin Prado (hamstring) is expected to do some baseball activities on Thursday.
Marlins manager Don Mattingly said Prado felt better Monday than he has since injuring his right hamstring nearly two weeks ago. While he's making progress, he's expected to require a stint on the disabled list. Derek Dietrich will fill in at third base to begin the year.
