Josh Bell went 2-for-4 in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

There was very little offense in this game, and it was an especially poor effort for the Pirates in the loss to Arizona. Bell's hits raise his average to .248 on the season, and his OPS sits at .705 over 77 games. There's a long way to go, but it's been a very disappointing sophomore season for the switch-hitting first baseman.

John Ryan Murphy went 1-for-3 with a homer and a walk in a win over the Pirates on Sunday.

Murphy's homer is the ninth of the year, and it was the last run scored in this one despite coming in the second inning. The backstop won't ever hit for a high average, but he does have some power seen in his .508 slugging percentage. He could -- and probably should -- get more playing time as the season progresses.

Rich Hill lasted just five innings Sunday, getting charged with four runs and taking a no-decision in the Dodgers' 8-7 win over the Mets in extra innings.

Hill issued just one walk and struck out five batters, but four of the five hits he gave up went for extra bases, including a two-run home run by Asdrubal Cabrera. He also hit three batters. The left-hander didn’t give up any extra-base knocks in his first start back from the disabled list last week against the Cubs. Hill will take on the Rockies at home the next time out.
Jun 24 - 5:12 PM

Making a spot start, Jerry Blevins allowed two runs over two innings of work as the Mets fell to the Dodgers on Sunday in extra innings.

Enrique Hernandez and Max Muncy hit back-to-back bombs off of Blevins to kick off the game before the veteran reliever rebounded to record six straight outs. It was the first start out of 533 major league appearances for Blevins. He’ll now presumably go back to his role as a lefty specialist.
Jun 24 - 5:11 PM

Cody Bellinger swatted a pair of solo home runs Sunday against the Mets.

Bellinger's first bomb of the game came off of Tim Peterson in the fourth inning and his second was off of Anthony Swarzak in the eighth. It was one of seven dingers on the day for the Dodgers, as Enrique Hernandez also went deep twice and Max Muncy, Joc Pederson and Justin Turner each left the yard once. Turner's blast in the 11th inning won it for the Dodgers.
Jun 24 - 5:10 PM

David Peralta went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer on Sunday in a 3-0 victory over the Pirates.

There wasn't much offense to be found in this one, but Peralta gave the Diamondbacks all the runs they'd need with a two-run shot off of Trevor Williams in the first inning. It's the 15th homer of the season, and his line on the year now sits at .278/.341/.509. He doesn't get the attention of some of the other outfielders in the National League, but there haven't been many better in 2018 than Peralta.
Jun 24 - 5:10 PM

Brad Boxberger hurled a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his 17th save of the season on Sunday against the Pirates.

It's a nice bounce-back for Boxberger, who struggled on Saturday and blew his fourth save of the year. He now is 17-for-21 on save attempts, and while he didn't strike anyone out, he did allow just one hit while lowering his ERA to 3.62. Boxberger doesn't have elite stuff, but he makes the most of it, and despite Saturday's struggles he remains one of the better closing options in the National League.
Jun 24 - 5:07 PM

Enrique Hernandez popped two of the Dodgers’ seven home runs in Sunday’s extra-innings win over the Mets.

Hernandez went deep off of Jerry Blevins to lead off the game and Max Muncy followed with a dinger of his own. He then homered off of Chris Beck in the sixth inning and also added a third run scored after singling in the eighth. Hernandez now has a career-high 12 longballs this season over 69 games after he went deep 11 times across 140 contests last year.
