Astros RHP prospect Corbin Martin threw 7 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball on Thursday for Double-A Corpus Christi.

Martin allowed just two hits, and he didn't walk anyone while striking out nine. A second-round pick of last year's draft, Martin has been exceptional since entering the Houston system, and the scoreless affair lowers his season ERA to 1.79 on the season. and he's fanned 46 over 40 1/3 innings. The 22-year-old has three above-average pitches, and his fastball can get into the high 90s. He could be pitching for Houston before the end of the 2019 season if he continues to pitch at this level.

Phillies OF prospect Adam Haseley went 2-for-4 with a run scored on Thursday for High-A Clearwater.

Haseley also walked, and hit his ninth double of the season for the Thrashers. The eighth pick of the 2017 draft, Haseley shoots line drives to all parts of the field, but in order to maximize his hit tool, he's going to have to show more patience at the plate than he has this season (seven walks in 179 plate appearances). He did show that approach when he was at Virginia, and he also has solid power and above-average speed. He could be a regular for the Phillies by the end of the decade.

Twins LHP prospect Stephen Gonsalves struck out five hitters over five shutout innings on Thursday for Triple-A Rochester.

Gonsalves didn't have his usual impressive control on Thursday - the four walks give him 13 on the season -- but he continues to impress, and his ERA on the season is down to 2.12. While not overpowering, he commands the heck out of his fastball, and his change is one of the best in the minors right now. It would be an upset if Gonsalves didn't make a start or two for the Twins in 2018.

Blue Jays SS prospect Bo Bichette went 2-for-4 with a homer on Thursday for Double-A New Hampshire.

Bichette's homer gives the shortstop prospect two on the season. The hits haven't fallen for the 20-year-old, but he's still showing a quality approach at the plate as seen in his 20 walks in 42 games, and he's also improved his defense, meaning he has a great chance to stick at short. Bichette should see more hits drop as the season progresses, and remains one of the best middle-infield prospects in baseball.

White Sox RHP prospect Dylan Cease gave up one run over 7 1/3 innings while striking out nine for High-A Winston-Salem.

Cease scattered four hits, and he walked two. The "other" prospect acquired in the trade for Jose Quintana, Cease now has 57 strikeouts in his 47 2/3 innings, and his ERA sits at a solid 2.83 on the year. The only issue right now with Cease is that he's still putting too many players on base via walk, with 20 bases-on-balls in that time frame being an awful high number. Still, the stuff is excellent, and he could excel as a reliever if the White Sox don't think Cease will throw enough strikes to start.

Blue Jays recalled OF Dalton Pompey from Triple-A Buffalo.

Pompey went 2-for-10 at the plate during his brief time with the big club earlier this month. He'll back up at all three outfield spots.
May 25 - 1:40 PM

Twins SS prospect Nick Gordon went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored for Triple-A Rochester on Thursday.

Gordon was promoted to Triple-A on Tuesday, and while it's been only three games -- or eight at-bats -- he's been able to carry over his impressive offensive season in the Rochester league. He's hitting .335 on the year, and he's already up to 20 extra-base hits, including five homers. Gordon is also a competent defender at shortstop, and has a real chance to play for the Twins before the season finishes.
May 25 - 1:38 PM

Reds RHP prospect Hunter Greene gave up one run in 4 1/3 innings while striking out six for Low-A Dayton.

Greene, 18, allowed four hits, and he walked two. Take away a disaster of a start where he allowed seven runs in less than an inning and Greene has been solid this year, and he's been particularly impressive with his ability to miss bats; as seen in his 32 strikeouts in 21 1/3 innings. This is not a fast-track prospect, and that's okay. When all is said and done he has a chance to be among the best pitchers in baseball.
