Taijuan Walker was forced to leave Friday's start against the Astros due to spasms on the left side of his neck.

Before departing after two innings, he allowed three runs (one earned) on two hits, both of which were home runs. The Mariners should provide an update on his status shortly. At this point, his next start could be in jeopardy.

Angels transferred LHP Andrew Heaney to the 60-day disabled list.

This was done merely as a procedural move to create a spot on the 40-man roster for Javy Guerra. Heaney, like teammate Garrett Richrds, was dealt some difficult news on Friday when he found out that his UCL is compromised and may require Tommy John surgery. Heaney is expected to try to rehab the injury first as opposed to going under the knife, but will still be sidelined until around mid-season.

Angels optioned OF Rafael Ortega to Triple-A Salt Lake.

The 24-year-old got an opportunity to play with Daniel Nava on the disabled list, and responded well hitting .294/345/.294 with four RBI and two stolen bases in 56 plate appearances. He should get another opportunity with the big league club the next time injury strikes.
May 6 - 9:20 PM

Angels activated OF Daniel Nava from the 15-day disabled list.

Nava is back in the Angels starting lineup and batting second on Friday night. Before hitting the shelf on April 16, he was hitting .286/.333/.286 with one RBI in his first 15 plate appearances.
May 6 - 9:18 PM

Angels placed RHP Garrett Richards on the 15-day disabled list with a torn right ulnar collateral ligament.

Richards is expected to need Tommy John surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2016 season. He won't be ready to return until midway through the 2017 campaign, which is a devastating blow to the Angels rotation.

Matt Moore will have his next scheduled start pushed back until Monday.

Moore looked a bit fatigued as he got pounded by the Dodgers on Tuesday which prompted the Rays to consider skipping his start on Sunday. They'll simply give him an extra day of rest instead in the hopes that he bounces back strong.
May 6 - 8:49 PM

Matt Andriese will be recalled from Triple-A Durham to start for the Rays on Sunday against the Angels.

The Rays have decided to give Matt Moore an extra day of rest which will give Andriese the opportunity for a spot start. The 26-year-old hurler tallied a career-high 14 strikeouts over seven innings in his latest start at Triple-A Durham.

Jacoby Ellsbury is heading for an MRI on his right hip after the injury forced him to leave Friday's game against the Red Sox.

While the club is calling the MRI precautionary, given the lengthy history with Ellsbury, it's certainly concerning. Aaron Hicks replaced him in the lineup on Friday and would be in line for extended playing time if Ellsbury lands on the disabled list.
