Red Sox recalled OF Rusney Castillo from Triple-A Pawtucket.

May 22 - 3:35 PM

Rangers released RHP Kyuji Fujikawa.

Fujikawa cleared waivers after being designated for assignment, but he didn't want to report to Triple-A so the Rangers just cut him loose. He doesn't figure to be out of a job for long.
May 22 - 3:23 PM

Francisco Cervelli is not in the Pirates' lineup Friday.

It's just a day off. Chris Stewart is behind the dish in Cervelli's place.
May 22 - 3:20 PM

Twins released 1B/OF Brock Peterson.

Peterson, 31, was batting just .186/.289/.351 at Triple-A Rochester. He'll now look to latch on elsewhere.
May 22 - 3:18 PM

Marcus Semien is not in the Athletics' lineup Friday.

New A's coach Ron Washington is putting Semien through drills prior to Friday's game as he seeks to improve the youngster's defense, so it's no surprise he's not in the lineup. Andy Parrino is handling shortstop.
May 22 - 2:55 PM

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Yasiel Puig (hamstring) is "feeling much better" and it "may not be that much longer" before he returns.

Puig was shut down just over a week ago after having a setback with his left hamstring during his rehab assignment, but he's evidently made nice progress since then. The Dodgers have yet to reveal when the outfielder will re-start the rehab assignment, but it sounds like it could happen shortly.
May 22 - 2:46 PM

MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez reports that Cuban right-hander Norge has defected from his native country and is seeking a Major League contract.

Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan is hearing that the Dodgers are the "early favorites" to sign the right-hander. Passan also notes that "many believe (Ruiz is) the best pitcher in Cuba" and that he's a "short right-hander but will get significant bank." Ruiz turned 21 just over a month ago.
May 22 - 2:40 PM

Adam Lind is not in the Brewers' lineup Friday.

He's receiving a day of rest with the Braves throwing lefty Alex Wood. Jason Rogers is starting at first base.

Things are getting heated in Atlanta. Braves just went Michael Pineda on Will Smith, thrown out for a foreign substance.

Seriously no thread? I know he is ancient but he now has more homers then Votto and Carlos Santana.
