Giants agreed to terms with LB Jameel McClain.
Free agent CB Brandon Browner will visit the Saints if he leaves his Redskins visit without a deal.
We knew the Saints were "looking at" Browner, but not that he had a visit scheduled. Despite Browner's four-game suspension to begin the season, he'd be a nice get for either Washington or New Orleans.
Free agent Donald Penn is on his way to meet with the Raiders Thursday night.
Penn was cut by the Bucs on Thursday afternoon as they moved on to Anthony Collins. And everyone knows how desperate the Raiders are after the Rodger Saffold debacle. So on paper, this looks like a lay-up for Reggie McKenzie to blow through some of his massive cap space. Penn has battled weight problems, but he hasn't missed a single game in his seven-year career and handled the blind side at a plus level.
Free agent Julian Edelman will visit the 49ers on Friday.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the 49ers are also interested in Hakeem Nicks. The Niners have slow-played the market, but are one of the more receiver-needy teams in the league. Edelman would represent a true slot threat that hasn't really been present during the Jim Harbaugh era. Provided the money is right, it would be a good signing for a team in the toughest division in football.
The 49ers are reportedly interested in free agent Hakeem Nicks.
Fellow free agent Julian Edelman is taking an official visit to San Francisco, while ESPN's Adam Schefter says the Niners are merely "interested" in Nicks. Either way, it appears they're serious about upgrading a receiving corps that currently features Michael Crabtree, Anquan Boldin and Quinton Patton as their top-three. It doesn't seem like an ideal landing spot for Nicks to rehab his depressed value as the Niners are a run-first team with two clear-cut starters.
The New York Daily News reports the Jets have "strong interest" in free agent Emmanuel Sanders.
This isn't exactly "new" news. The Jets' interest in Sanders has been known for the better part of a month. He was initially expected to visit Gang Green Friday, but a scheduling conflict put that on hold. Sanders is going to Kansas City Friday. The Jets are looking for another receiver after landing Eric Decker Wednesday.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Seahawks are interested in re-signing free agent Sidney Rice.
Rice could take Golden Tate's old spot on the perimeter of Seattle's offense. Rice was released by the Seahawks in a needed cap maneuver, but the club still believes he can help their passing game. When healthy, Rice remains an effective winner of jump-balls and can score touchdowns. He's also only 27.
Free agent Emmanuel Sanders will visit the Chiefs on Friday.
Sanders is making the rounds; he's already talked to the Jaguars and Bucs and has also drawn a bit of interest from the Jets. In Kansas City, Sanders could make Donnie Avery expendable or even replace Dexter McCluster in the slot.
