NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Sammy Watkins (injured reserve, foot) doesn't need surgery.
It's good news for his chances of returning this year, as Jones fractures have a high rate of second surgery. Watkins will visit Dr. Robert Anderson, but it sounds like he just needs rest/recovery. Buffalo is hoping Watkins can return in Week 12.
Panthers DE Charles Johnson was listed as questionable with a quad injury.
Johnson did not practice Friday after showing up as limited on the injury report Thursday, suggesting he tweaked his quad in Thursday's practice. It is never a good sign when a player fails to practice following an injury, but coach Ron Rivera said he is "counting on" the defensive end playing. Johnson will likely be a game-time decision.
Bills placed WR Sammy Watkins (foot) on injured reserve.
Watkins was already ruled out for Week 4. His foot injury wasn't showing any signs of improving, though the reports were he was only dealing with pain management. Watkins will miss at least the next eight weeks on I.R, making Week 12 his earliest possible return. It's a huge blow to an offense that doesn't have any playmakers outside of LeSean McCoy. Buffalo signed Justin Hunter to add depth behind Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin.
Bills claimed WR Justin Hunter off waivers from Miami.
It's a depth signing for the WR-needy Bills. Hunter was buried on Miami's depth chart, but falls in a good spot with Buffalo. He'll push for a role behind Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin.
Cardinals RG Evan Mathis (foot) will play against the Rams in Week 4.
He's been removed from the injury report. Mathis missed only one week with his foot/toe issue. His return is an upgrade to Arizona's run game.
Michael Floyd (concussion) has been removed from the Cardinals' injury report.
Floyd was cleared after practicing fully the last two days. He'll be a low-end WR3 against a Rams secondary that can take away the outside. Floyd has caught just nine of his 24 targets this season.
Raiders RT Menelik Watson (calf) has been ruled out for Week 4.
Watson hasn't practiced since going down on Sunday. With Austin Howard (ankle) also sidelined, Vadal Alexander will start at right tackle against Baltimore.
Tavon Austin (shoulder) is questionable for Week 4 against the Cardinals.
Austin returned to full practice on Friday after being limited on Wednesday and Thursday. He'll be a boom-or-bust WR4 Sunday at Arizona.
