ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Brewers have claimed Stephen Vogt off waivers from the Athletics.

Vogt, 32, has batted just .217/.287/.357 this season and hit only .222/.287/.365 in the second half last season. However, he was an All-Star in 2015 and 2016 and is under team control through 2020. With Jett Bandy in a lengthy slump (.151/.240/.247 since May 1), the Brewers felt Vogt was worth a shot. He figures to share catching duties with Manny Pina but looks like a capable second catcher in fantasy leagues now with Miller Park as his new home.

Yoenis Cespedes is not in the Mets' lineup Sunday.

He's been receiving extra days off since being activated from the disabled list. The Mets have Michael Conforto, Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce in the outfield on Sunday.

Joey Gallo (hamstring) has been sent back to Texas to be re-evaluated.

Gallo is missing a second straight start with a sore right hamstring. The Rangers are hopeful that he can rejoin the club on Monday in Cleveland, but more will be known after he's examined.

Josh Reddick is absent from the Astros' lineup Sunday.

Reddick has been red-hot since returning from the 7-day concussion DL, but he'll get a breather Sunday with the Mariners throwing left Ariel Miranda. Brian McCann is also sitting out, as the Astros are giving Jake Marisnick and Evan Gattis starts.

Tony Barnette (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

Barnett will throw one inning on Tuesday and two on Thursday before being re-evaluated. Unless he has a setback, he should rejoin the Rangers' bullpen next weekend.

David Vassegh 570 AM in Los Angeles writes that the "indication" is that the Dodgers will place Corey Seager (hamstring) on the disabled list Sunday or Monday.

Seager strained his right hamstring on Friday. It's considered a Grade 1 strain and doesn't look like a long-term ailment, but it appears the Dodgers intend to play things safely here. Mike Freeman has been added to the Dodgers' taxi squad and looks like Seager's replacement on the roster.

Jed Lowrie could get his ailing right knee checked out by a doctor in Houston on Monday.

Lowrie tweaked his knee while trying to avoid an inside pitch on Friday and has now sat out two straight games. It doesn't at this point seem like more than a day-to-day ailment, but it sounds like more will be known Monday. Franklin Barreto is at second base again Sunday.
Jun 25 - 12:56 PM

Matt Chapman (knee) is expected to be released from the hospital Sunday.

Chapman is battling an infection in his left knee and the A's are expected to have a better idea later Sunday when he'll be ready for activation. He could return when first eligible on Thursday.
