Zack Cozart (quad) ran the bases on Wednesday.

Cozart was eligible to be activated from the disabled list on Wednesday, but it looks like he is shooting for Thursday, now. Red manager Bryan Price said that the shortstop is very close to a return. All signs looking good. He had been trying to play through a quad injury suffered in mid-May, but ultimately succumbed to the disabled list retroactive to June 18.

Francisco Cervelli (concussion) has resumed light physical activity with work on a stationary bike.

Cervelli has already twice been placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list, most recently landing on it on June 22 due to the lingering aftereffects of a head injury suffered earlier in the month. There is no current timetable for his return.

Justin Nicolino is being moved from the rotation to the bullpen.

In five starts this season, Nicolino had been pitching to a 4.95 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. Those numbers are poor enough, but just as concerning for the Marlins, he had managed just 20 combined innings in those five outings. With Nicolino shifting to the bullpen, the Marlins will need a new starter for Saturday's game against the Brewers. Tom Koehler is one potential option on that front.

Aaron Sanchez (blister) told Blue Jays manager John Gibbons that he felt no discomfort after his Tuesday rehab start with High-A Dunedin.

Sanchez will make one more rehab start. So long as that one goes off without a hitch, he would then likely be ready to rejoin the Blue Jays. A recurring blister concern has sidelined him since May 19. Sanchez has made just five starts this season.

Chris Heisey (biceps) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Heisey hit a setback in his rehab assignment at the beginning of the month, but he started hitting again without discomfort on Saturday. The outfielder has been on the shelf since May 24 with a right bicep rupture, one which he is attempting to play through rather than undergo surgery on.

Twins activated RHP Phil Hughes from the 10-day disabled list.

Hughes will be working out of the bullpen, perhaps in a long relief role, now that he has returned from a biceps injury which has kept him off the major league mound since May 22. His fastball was sitting at around 89-92 mph during his rehab assignment, a mark which is a little on the low side for the veteran.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Yankees and Red Sox have reached out to the Marlins about a potential Martin Prado trade.

Chase Headley and Pablo Sandoval have both struggled at the hot corner for the Yanks and Sox, respectively. Prado has played in just 21 games this season due to a hamstring injury which cost him about six weeks of action. He is hitting .277/.299/.398 with two homers and nine RBI in 83 at-bats this season.

Stephen Vogt will hit seventh in Wednesday's game against the Reds.

The Brew Crew claimed Vogt off waivers from the A's on June 25. He has seen one plate appearance with the team, but Wednesday's contest will be his first start with his new club. He was hitting .217/.287/.357 in 174 at-bats with the A's before they opted to cut ties.
