Chargers RBs coach Ollie Wilson said Melvin Gordon's pass-protection concerns are overblown.

Texans LT Duane Brown "will miss some time" with a hand injury.

Brown's hand/wrist are in a cast. He's expected to miss the rest of the preseason. Coach Bill O'Brien said Brown should be back for Week 1, but left the door open for the injury to linger into the regular season. Brown's expected to avoid surgery. Brown was a top-nine left tackle at Pro Football Focus last year.

ESPN's James Walker expects Jarvis Landry to "do a lot of damage in the red zone" this season.

Walker "wouldn't be surprised" if Landry doubles his touchdown total of five from last season and becomes a double-digit touchdown scorer. It's been clear since last season that Landry is Ryan Tannehill's favorite target, and if Miami's second preseason game was any indication, Landry is going to be a preferred option near the goal line. On back-to-back third- and fourth-and-goal plays last weekend, Tannehill threw to Landry. He'll likely threaten 90 catches and eight scores.

Titans rookie RB David Cobb suffered a calf injury and didn't travel with the team for Friday's third preseason game.

Cobb is missing a big opportunity in the Titans' regular-season dress rehearsal against the Chiefs. After Bishop Sankey's big game against the Rams last week, he appears to have taken a couple steps ahead of Cobb on the depth chart. If he can tie another solid effort onto it tonight, Sankey will have a clear path to the starting job for Week 1. Cobb has become a mere late-round flier.

The Indianapolis Star's Stephen Holder reports Colts rookie Phillip Dorsett has the "inside track" to the No. 3 receiver job.

However, Holder admits this is a position battle that is still playing itself out. Dorsett is the fastest receiver on the team and gets the edge over Moncrief because he can play inside and outside. Moncrief has size on his side and is as equally explosive. While Dorsett has a leg up for the No. 3 job, both players should see the field plenty, and each is likely to have a dominant game here and there.

ESPN's Mike Reiss doesn't expect WR Josh Boyce to make the Patriots' 53-man roster.

With the signing of Reggie Wayne, Reiss has the Patriots keeping Julian Edelman, Wayne, Danny Amendola, and Aaron Dobson, while Brandon LaFell opens the year on reserve/PUP. Boyce, a 2013 fourth-rounder, has long been impressive in practice settings, but he had a nightmare of a preseason opener, dropping passes and showing zero chemistry with backup Jimmy Garoppolo.

Terrelle Pryor (hamstring) is "on course" to play in the Browns' third preseason game Saturday barring a setback on Friday.

Pryor needs it. After missing the majority of the month with a hamstring injury, Pryor sounded "dejected" at practice this week with the injury taking its toll on him. Pryor just needs to get on the field Saturday and show something -- anything, really -- to earn a 53-man roster spot. We can't see the rebuilding Browns cutting the only physically-gifted, big receiver on the team.

Vikings DC George Edwards said he's "aiming for" first-round CB Trae Waynes to be a Week 1 starter.

Waynes was torched in the Vikings' first two preseason games, but Edwards has seen improvement each week. The Vikings seem to want to get CB Captain Munnerlyn off the field after he played the most snaps among Vikings corners last season. With Waynes working into the lineup as the outside corner opposite Xavier Rhodes, it's pushed Terence Newman to the slot and Munnerlyn to the bench.
