Brent Suter (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday.

Suter has missed the last week of action with a strained left rotator cuff. He'll need to progress to facing hitters and will probably need a rehab start before rejoining the Brew Crew.

Cameron Maybin (knee) is back in the Angels' lineup Monday.

It's his first start since last Tuesday, as he's been battling nagging soreness in his right knee. Maybin missed nearly three weeks of action previously due to an injury to the same knee, and he's hit only .214/.267/.250 since returning so it seems he may never have really recovered. He's feeling well enough to give it a go Monday, though.

Tim Melville was rocked for five earned runs over just 3 1/3 innings Monday in the first half of the Twins' doubleheader against the White Sox.

Melville opened the 2017 season in independent ball and he looked the part on Monday evening against the last-place White Sox, issuing three walks and surrendering four hits -- including a two-run single to Avisail Garcia in the bottom of the first inning and a three-run homer to Yolmer Sanchez in the bottom of the fourth. Melville probably won't get another turn in the Minnesota rotation.

Joe Panik (concussion) could begin a rehab assignment Tuesday or Wednesday.

Panik landed on the concussion disabled list nearly a week ago, but it sounds like the symptoms are behind him. He should be back later this week if all goes well.
Aug 21 - 8:00 PM

Mike Puma of the New York Post hears that Jeurys Familia (shoulder) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as this weekend.

Familia has tossed two scoreless innings on his rehab assignment so far and will pitch on back-to-back days Tuesday and Wednesday. That's often the last step before a reliever is activated, so Familia will get a day of rest Thursday before likely being activated Friday if all goes well. A.J. Ramos might keep the closer job initially if the Mets want to ease Familia back into things but the latter should get his job back in short order.

Angels activated LHP Tyler Skaggs from the bereavement list.

Skaggs was away over the weekend following the passing of his grandfather. He will start Monday against the Rangers.
Aug 21 - 7:20 PM

Angels recalled LHP Jose Alvarez from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Alvarez holds a 4.50 ERA and 33/10 K/BB ratio over 36 innings with the big club this season. He'll operate in middle relief.
Aug 21 - 7:19 PM

Angels placed RHP Andrew Bailey on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to August 18, with right shoulder inflammation.

Bailey hasn't pitched in nearly a week, but it's clear he was never over the shoulder ailment that's kept him out most of the season. He's a poor bet to contribute any more this year.
