Bryce Harper was ejected from Friday's game against the Mets in the 11th inning for arguing balls and strikes.

Jerry Meals' strike zone was questionable, but Harper pushed things too far and got himself kicked out of the game. It forced the Nationals to use Dan Uggla at first base and Ryan Zimmerman in the outfield. Harper went 0-for-5 with a strikeout before exiting.

Yunel Escobar drove in the Nationals' only run of the night Friday against the Mets.

His eighth-inning single off Matt Harvey tied the game, but the Mets eventually won in extras. Escobar went 1-for-5 on the night and has a .312/.360/.410 batting line on the year.

Rubby De La Rosa struggled in a no-decision against the Astros on Friday, allowing four runs on eight hits over his six frames.

De La Rosa punched out four on the night while walking only one. All of the damage against him came in the fifth inning, highlighted by a three-run blast off the bat of catcher Jason Castro. He'll look to improve upon a 4.59 ERA and 1.29 WHIP when he takes the hill against the Nationals in Washington on Wednesday.

Jason Castro blasted a three-run home run on Friday, but it wasn't enough to lead the Astros to victory over the visiting Diamondbacks.

Castro's towering blast came off Diamondbacks starter Rubby De La Rosa as part of a four-run fourth inning. Unfortunately, that would wind up being the extent of the Astros offense in the ballgame as they would fall in 10 innings. It's the second straight day that the hard-hitting backstop has gone deep, and he's now hitting .216/.282/.381 with nine homers and 25 RBI on the season.

Scott Feldman pitched decently in Friday's no-decision against the Diamondbacks, allowing three runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings.

Feldman punched out three and didn't issue a walk in the ballgame. With Thursday's acquisition of Mike Fiers it remains unclear whether it will be Feldman or Collin McHugh who gets bumped from the Astros rotation, so Feldman needed a decent effort on Friday to state his case.

Kyle Kendrick will undergo an MRI exam on his injured shoulder on Monday.

The Rockies believe that the injury is to his rotator cuff but remain hopeful that it isn't too serious. Either way, a trip to the disabled list could be in the works for the veteran right-hander.
Jul 31 - 11:48 PM

Josh Donaldson drove in four runs in Friday's 7-6 win over the Royals, including a walk-off RBI single in the 11th.

Donaldson had a two-run double in the third inning before knocking in another run with a double in the seventh. The game-winning rally in the 11th was set up after Troy Tulowitzki reached on a one-out single and moved over to second base on a balk by Frankin Morales. Donaldson then laced a single to left field to end it. The 29-year-old continues to have a monster year, batting .295/.358/.550 with 25 homers and 73 RBI.
Jul 31 - 11:46 PM

Drew Hutchison gave up four runs (three earned) over five-plus innings Friday in a no-decision against the Royals.

Hutchison allowed three runs in the first inning and was charged with the final run after being pulled in the sixth. He gave up seven hits and walked one while registering just one strikeout. The 24-year-old has now failed to complete six innings in eight out of his last nine starts. He'll bring a 5.42 ERA into a start against the Twins next week at home.
