Vikings WLB Chad Greenway is open to restructuring his contract.

Greenway was one of the worst starting linebackers in the league this past year. He's due $8.8 million in salary and bonuses next season and will need to take a massive pay cut to return. The Vikings can save $7.1 million by releasing Greenway, but would leave $1.7 million in dead money.

Matt Cassel has a $500,000 roster bonus due on March 17.

Cassel is slated to make $4.15 million in 2015. His contract is reasonable for a top backup, but the Vikings could avoid paying any further guaranteed money by cutting him. Cassel is four months removed from Lisfranc surgery and questionable to be ready for OTAs.

Vikings FB Jerome Felton is expected to void his contract, making him a free agent.

Felton has a $2.45 million player option for 2015. As the Vikings turned to a shotgun-heavy offense to suit Teddy Bridgewater, Felton's snaps were scaled back dramatically despite still-effective lead blocking when he's gotten the chance to play. He'd be a better fit on more of an I-formation team.

Jaguars owner Shad Khan stated Friday at the Super Bowl that he is "very optimistic" about the 2015 return of suspended WR Justin Blackmon.

"Absolutely," Khan stated vehemently. "As a matter of fact, I’m very optimistic. I think he’s paid his dues. I think he’s got his life together. I think he can be a role model for people who have gone through hard times. We’re waiting for him." Blackmon's return would be a huge boost to Jacksonville's wideout corps, which is dealing with Allen Robinson's foot fracture and Cecil Shorts' free agency. 25-year-old Blackmon is a run-after-catch machine with an ability to threaten the intermediate sections. He'd be a big upgrade on Shorts at Z receiver.

Peyton Manning met with new Broncos coach Gary Kubiak on Wednesday and team president Joe Ellis on Friday regarding his future plans.

He'll chat with GM John Elway shortly. Appearing at the Super Bowl, Manning reportedly appeared "relaxed" and "invigorated," and the Denver Post continues to expect him to play football in 2015. "I’d like to make a decision soon," Manning said in Arizona. "At the same time, coach and Joe and John have instructed me to take some time so I’m kind of following their orders."

Bears re-signed LB DeDe Lattimore to a two-year contract.

He was scheduled for exclusive rights free agency. Lattimore, 24, went undrafted out of South Florida last year. He recorded three special teams tackles across seven appearances during his rookie season.

The Dolphins were reportedly high on Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema before hiring Joe Philbin in 2012, but the sides disagreed on whether Russell Wilson could be an NFL starter.

Per ace beat writer Armando Salguero, Ross was high on Bielema for the head-coaching job, but Bielema and the personnel department led by ex-GM Jeff Ireland hit a wall when Bielema suggested the Dolphins draft Wilson in the second round. Bielema allegedly even promised the Dolphins a Super Bowl within five years if they took Wilson, who was Bielema's quarterback at Wisconsin. "They all looked at me like, 'You can't say that.," Bielema said. "That's the difference between college and pro. He's undersized. He can't throw.' I was like, 'OK, all right,' and I honestly, that day, kind of pulled myself out of it." Ross ultimately convinced Ireland to draft Ryan Tannehill with the No. 8 overall pick. Wilson went to Seattle in the third round.

LeGarrette Blount had his marijuana charges withdrawn after he completed 50 hours of community service.

Blount and Le'Veon Bell were arrested in August and popped with pot charges. Blount had until February 4 to complete his court-mandated community service. With the case now resolved, the league can step in and take action against Blount. It's possible he and Bell receive a fine or short suspension in 2015.
