Mark Bowman of MLB.com writes that Michael Foltynewicz will likely be called up from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Wednesday against the Orioles.

He'll replace the injured Manny Banuelos (elbow) in the starting rotation, at least on a temporary basis. Foltynewicz owns a 5.29 ERA over nine starts and three relief appearances this season and can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Braves placed LHP Manny Banuelos on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 25, with left elbow inflammation.

Banuelos allowed a career-high four runs over five innings last Friday against the Cardinals and apparently didn't come out of the start feeling good. Mark Bowman of MLB.com writes that Mike Foltynewicz will likely be called up from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Wednesday against the Orioles.

David Wright (back) took grounders at third base Tuesday at Citi Field.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said last Thursday that the hope was that Wright would be able to do baseball activities this week in New York and so far things are going to according to plan. It's unclear what the next step will be and obviously he has a long way to go before beginning a rehab assignment, but it's a step in the right direction.

Rays prospect SS Daniel Robertson (hand) started a rehab assignment in the Gulf Coast League on Tuesday.

He has been on the disabled list since early June after having his hamate bone in his left hand surgically removed. Prior to the injury, Robertson was batting .272/.347/.436 with 25 extra-base hits and 32 RBI through 49 games at Double-A Montgomery. The 21-year-old doesn’t come with the hype like some of the other shortstop prospects in the minor leagues, but he has the upside of an above-average everyday player thanks to his contact and on-base skills, strong defense and high baseball IQ. Robertson should be an option for the Rays at some point in 2016.

Athletics recalled RHP R.J. Alvarez from Triple-A Nashville.

He'll replace Tyler Clippard in Oakland's bullpen. Alvarez has struck out 16 batters in nine inning with the A's this season, but he has also allowed 14 runs (13 earned) on 13 hits and six walks, including four home runs.

Rangers prospect OF Lewis Brinson went 4-for-5 with a solo home run and a double on Monday for High-A High Desert.

That’s back-to-back four-hit games for the 21-year-old center fielder, who’s batting .336/.417/.608 with 11 home runs, 21 doubles, seven triples and 13 steals through 62 games this season in the California League. Meanwhile, Brinson has been insanely hot in July, with a .416/.491/.798 batting line, 20 extra-base hits (five home runs) and 18 RBI in 23 games. The only thing keeping him from a late-season promotion is Double-A Frisco’s already-loaded outfield of Ryan Cordell (.849 OPS), Nick Williams (.843 OPS), Nomar Mazara (.803 OPS) and Zach Cone (.810 OPS).

Reds sent INF/OF Chris Dominguez outright to Triple-A Louisville.

Dominguez successfully passed through waivers after being designated for assignment on Monday. The 28-year-old is batting just 216/.264/.368 over 221 plate appearances in Triple-A this season and will continue to serve as organizational depth.

Jane Lee of MLB.com reports that the Athletics are "deep" in trade talks involving Ben Zobrist and a deal could happen soon.

After dealing Scott Kazmir to the Astros last week and Tyler Clippard to the Mets on Monday, Zobrist is likely the next to go. The impending free agent has drawn interest from a long list of teams, including the Royals, Pirates, Angels, Cubs, Yankees, and Giants.
