Zack Godley got rocked for seven hits and eight runs (seven earned) in just 3 1/3 innings Wednesday in the Diamondbacks’ loss to Milwaukee.

Godley walked six and struck out three while throwing 50 of his 88 pitches for strikes. Arizona actually held a 2-1 lead going into the fourth inning but that’s when the wheels fell off for Godley, who yielded four hits, two walks and seven runs in the frame before finally getting the hook from manager Torey Lovullo. One of those hits included a three-run homer by Travis Shaw. The right-hander is now 0-3 with a 5.27 ERA in five starts this month. He’ll look to bounce back Tuesday at home against Cincinnati. The reeling D’Backs have now lost 13 of their last 14 including seven straight.

Athletics recalled INF Franklin Barreto from Triple-A Nashville.

Barreto takes the place on the 25-man roster of Khris Davis, who was placed on the disabled list with a groin strain. The top hitting prospect in Oakland's system, this will be the third stint with the A's for Barreto; although last time shouldn't really count since he only played once in his 10 days up. There's no guarantee of playing time here, either, so Barreto is a risky -- but potentially rewarding -- fantasy addition to your roster.

Athletics placed DH Khris Davis on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to May 21 with a right groin strain.

Davis was diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain after an MRI on Tuesday. He suffered the injury on a swing against the Blue Jays on Sunday's series finale, and was out of the lineup on Tuesday against the Mariners. In 47 games, Davis has hit 13 homers and driven in 38 runs with an .805 OPS.

Carson Kelly (hamstring) will catch in a rehab game for Triple-A Memphis before possibly rejoining the Cardinals on Saturday.

Kelly will have a chance to catch star prospect Alex Reyes on Thursday in his 2018 Triple-A debut, and then hope to be back with the Cardinals on Saturday. Steve Baron will likely be sent back to Memphis if/when Kelly is ready to roll.

Indians placed OF Brandon Guyer on the 10-day disabled list with a neck strain.

The Indians now have four outfielders on the disabled list, as Guyer will join Bradley Zimmer, Lonnie Chisenhall and Tyler Naquin on the shelf. In 33 games with Cleveland, Guyer has hit .150/.244/.325 with three homers and 10 RBI in 2018.

Indians recalled RHP Adam Plutko from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Plutko will start on Wednesday against the Cubs. It'll be his second start of the season for the right-hander, who pitched well in a spot start by giving up three runs with six strikeouts and now walks over 7 1/3 innings. To make room on the 25-man roster, the Indians placed Brandon Guyer on the 10-day disabled list with a neck strain.

Adrian Beltre (hamstring) took batting practice before Thursday's game.

Beltre was able to field ground balls hit at him on Tuesday, and now he's feeling well enough to take live batting practice. Rangers GM Jon Daniels told reporters that Beltre was a "few weeks" away on Monday, but it's clear he's making progress, and there's at least a chance we see him back with Texas before the end of the month, with early June still the most likely return point.

Anthony DeSclafani will make a rehab start on Friday for Triple-A Louisville.

DeSclafani is getting close to appearing in his first big league game since 2016. It'll be the third rehab start for the right-hander, and if things go well for him in his International League debut, we could see Desclafani join the pitching staff before the end of the month.
