Chris Davis is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Angels.

The struggling Davis will sit against Jered Weaver. Meanwhile, Steve Pearce will start at first base and Delmon Young will serve as the DH.

Andy Martino of the New York Daily News hears from major league sources that the Royals could be interested in the Mets' Bartolo Colon or the Phillies' A.J. Burnett.

Martino notes that the Royals might not be able to add the payroll necessary to acquire Colon or Burnett, but the team's evaluators like both pitchers. Colon, who got the best of Burnett on Monday, is owed $11 million next season. Burnett's contract includes a complicated player option for 2015 which already guarantees him $7.5 million. It will increase to $12.75 million if he makes 30 starts this season. He has already made 23 starts.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Orioles are not pursuing Twins' catcher Kurt Suzuki.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reported a few days ago that the O's and Cardinals were showing trade interest in Suzuki, but Baltimore apparently feels content with their in-house options. St. Louis might also be out as an option after their recent addition of A.J. Pierzynski.
Jul 29 - 3:21 PM

Eric Hosmer (hand) is back in Tuesday's lineup against the Twins.

Hosmer has missed four straight starts due to a bruised right hand, but he's ready to give it a go. He'll bat third against Trevor Bauer.
Jul 29 - 3:18 PM

Mike Napoli is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Blue Jays.

This will be his second time out of the lineup in the past three games. We haven't heard anything about an injury, so perhaps the Red Sox are just using this as an opportunity to showcase Mike Carp, who is starting at first base Tuesday.
Jul 29 - 3:15 PM

Lucas Duda is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Phillies.

Duda has been the hottest hitter in the Mets' lineup of late, but he'll take a seat against left-hander Cole Hamels. Eric Campbell will make the start at first base.

Braves recalled RHP Juan Jaime from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Jaime will replace the injured Shae Simmons (shoulder) on the active roster. The young fireballer has allowed one run in four innings with the big club this season to go along with a 7/1 K/BB ratio.
Jul 29 - 3:10 PM

Braves placed RHP Shae Simmons on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 27, with a right shoulder strain.

Simmons got off to a great start in the majors, but he has struggled a bit recently, so the shoulder issue would explain it. No word on how long he'll be sidelined. The Braves have called up hard-throwing Juan Jaime to take his spot in the bullpen.
