Deron Williams sat out Thursday's practice.
Williams also sat out on Wednesday and he's not injured, so this adds weight to recent trade rumors. The Jazz have been mentioned as a potential landing spot, even though it seems like an odd fit. Either way, Yogi Ferrell stands to gain plenty of value if D-Will heads out of Dallas.
Andre Roberson could be headed to Chicago in a potential Doug McDermott and Cameron Payne trade, according to Frank Isola of The Daily News.
OKC is trying to find out how much it will cost to re-sign Roberson, as well. This trade sounds like it's going down and Andre Roberson was giving hugs to his teammates in practice. The Bulls could be very busy with more deals coming, but Roberson isn't going to be much more than a defender anyway.
According to Frank Isola of the NY Daily News, the Thunder are nearing a deal to acquire Doug McDermott.
The proposed deal would likely include Andre Roberson and Cameron Payne from the Thunder, so McDermott could potentially be the starting small forward in OKC. If you have a roster spot and need 3-pointers, McDermott is now firmly on the radar as a pickup. He's averaging 1.3 triples in 24.5 minutes per game for the Bulls.
The Bulls have some interest in Cameron Payne, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
As mentioned earlier today, the Thunder are interested in Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott. Multiple reports say the Bulls have been burning up the phones and should be making some sort of deal. Payne would actually have a shot to start in Chicago, but he's only a stash in very deep leagues for now.
Enes Kanter says his arm feels "pretty good" and when asked if he might play on Friday night, he said "it's a secret."
If Kanter really is in play for tomorrow night against the Lakers it means he recovered very quickly from his broken arm and returned a bit ahead of schedule. While feeling "pretty good" is a step in the right direction, we still don't know if Kanter has a realistic shot at playing on Friday. But it sure seems like a possibility. Watch for more updates on his status coming Friday afternoon.
Ricky Rubio is practicing prior to the trade deadline on Thursday.
There's not much information to be gleaned here, but at a minimum it doesn't sound like a Rubio trade has already been agreed upon. The Knicks have repeatedly been mentioned as suitors for Rubio, possibly in a deal involving Derrick Rose, and we won't have to wait much longer to learn his fate.
DeMar DeRozan missed practice on Thursday because he was attending a funeral.
To be clear, he's fully expected to play on Friday vs. the Celtics. The Raptors are expected to make a move at the deadline, but DeRozan obviously isn't going anywhere -- the Raptors are looking for a small forward and have been linked to P.J. Tucker and Wilson Chandler.
Chris Paul (thumb) remained listed as out in the game notes for Thursday against the Warriors.
He reportedly could play and has been cleared. For what it's worth, the game notes had him listed as out after the report came out that he could play. In other words, we're treating this report more like a "doubtful" to play.
