Hunter Pence (hamstring) could return as early as Saturday.

Pence suffered a minor setback early in his rehab assignment but has rebounded quickly by hitting home runs in three of his last five contests. The 33-year-old was having a solid year before his hamstring surgery, batting .298 with seven jacks and 36 RBI over 181 at-bats. Mac Williamson will probably head back to the minors when Pence is activated.

The Blue Jays and Rockies have had trade discussions about Boone Logan.

The Blue Jays have put an emphasis on improving their bullpen by adding veterans Jason Grilli and Joaquin Benoit and now they have their sights set on Logan. Toronto's primary lefty out of the bullpen has been Brett Cecil, who is 0-6 with a 6.00 ERA. Logan has pitched to a solid 2.48 ERA over 43 appearances this year. The Giants have also checked in on the 31-year-old left-hander.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Nationals have scouted David Robertson and Wade Davis.

The Red Sox and Dodgers have also shown interest in Davis, though this is the first we've heard of anyone checking in on Robertson. The White Sox hurler has a strong track record but has fallen apart this month with a 9.39 ERA over 7 2/3 innings. The Nationals are looking to upgrade on struggling veteran Jonathan Papelbon in the ninth inning. They were one of several teams pursuing Aroldis Chapman before he landed with the Cubs.

Giants purchased the contract of LHP Matt Reynolds from Triple-A Sacramento.

He'll take the roster spot left by Josh Osich, who was placed on the disabled list with a strained forearm. Reynolds earned his promotion by tossing 10 1/3 scoreless innings between Sacramento and Double-A Richmond. He last pitched in the major leagues with Arizona, compiling a 4.61 ERA over 18 relief outings in 2015.

Giants placed LHP Josh Osich on the 15-disabled list with a strained left forearm.

Veteran left-hander Matt Reynolds was called up from Triple-A Sacramento in the corresponding roster move. Osich leads the Giants with 18 holds but he's done it with a disappointing 4.25 ERA. His MRI came back clean so Osich could be back as soon as the 15 days are up.

Trea Turner will draw another start in center field Thursday against the Giants.

He'll hit leadoff against Giants right-hander Johnny Cueto. The fact that Turner is starting against a right-hander instead of Ben Revere would suggest that Turner has usurped Revere's role as the everyday center fielder. And why not? He's hitting .319 with six RBI and five steals in only 12 contests. Until Turner's luck runs out, expect him to be in the lineup most days. He's worth a speculative add in most formats.

Reds optioned OF Kyle Waldrop to Triple-A Louisville.

For some reason the Reds have decided to activate Homer Bailey from the disabled list even though he's not scheduled to pitch until Sunday. Waldrop owns a .250 average over 20 at-bats for the Reds this season. We'll see him again in September, if not sooner.

Reds transferred RHP Caleb Cotham (shoulder, knee) to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears a roster spot for Homer Bailey, who is set to return from Tommy John surgery Sunday versus San Diego. Cotham was close to returning from shoulder inflammation earlier this month but was shut down because of a knee issue. His return date remains a moving target.
