David Freese (quadriceps) went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in his return to action Sunday.

Freese missed a couple of games with a minor quadriceps injury. The former World Series hero is batting just .143 with a .393 OPS on the season and could be in danger of losing his starting third base job to Ian Stewart.

The Angels are expected to recall Nick Maronde from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.

They optioned Josh Wall to Triple-A after Sunday's loss to the Tigers, and it's believe that the 24-year-old Maronde is on his way to join the team in Washington. He appeared in four games with the Angels before his demotion, posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 5/1 K/BB ratio in three innings.

Dustin Pedroia went 2-for-5 and scored the game winning run on a throwing error in Sunday night's crazy come-from-behind 6-5 victory over the Orioles.

After falling behind 5-0 early, the Red Sox scored three in the sixth and two in the seventh to tie things up. Pedroia lined a one-out double off Brian Matusz in the ninth, advanced to third on a wild pitch then scampered home on a David Lough throwing error relaying in a line drive.

Jonny Gomes belted a three-run homer off Ubaldo Jimenez in Sunday’s victory over the Orioles.

The three-run blast got the Red Sox on the board in the sixth inning, keying what would be a dramatic come-from-behind victory. He finished the night 2-for-4 with a double as well, and is now hitting .225/.333/.425 on the season.
Apr 20 - 10:47 PM

Jake Peavy struggled in a no-decision against the Orioles on Sunday, surrendering five runs on 10 hits over his 5 2/3 innings of work.

Peavy walked five and struck out four on the evening. The O’s jumped on him early in this one, striking for three runs in the first inning including a solo homer off the bat of Nelson Cruz. The veteran right-hander will carry a 3.33 ERA, troublesome 1.48 WHIP and 25/14 K/BB ratio into his next outing against the Blue Jays in Toronto on Friday.
Apr 20 - 10:46 PM

Adam Jones had a terrific night at the plate in Sunday’s loss to the Red Sox, going 4-for-5 with a double, RBI and a run scored.

Jones RBI single in the sixth inning increased the O’s advantage to 5-0 at the time, but unfortunately that would be the extent of their offense in the game. He’s off to a very strong start at the plate this season, slashing .313/.347/.448 with eight RBI.
