The Jets still are not considering starting Christian Hackenberg at quarterback.

Bryce Petty was predictably awful in New Orleans on Sunday, but the Jets don't want to subject fans — or planet earth — to Hackenberg. It's truly remarkable that a team in the Jets' quarterback situation isn't trying to force a former second-rounder onto the field. It tells you all you need to know about Hackenberg's NFL future. His 53-man roster spot will be in grave danger next summer.

Jets DE Leonard Williams is in the concussion protocol.

If Williams misses Week 16, it will be the first missed game of his three-year career. Williams is having a quiet year by his NFL standards, but has still been well above average along the Jets' defensive line.

Giants WR Tavarres King is in the concussion protocol.

King posted a season-high 70 yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles. If he gets cleared for Week 16, he will be facing the Cardinals on the road.

Raiders LT Donald Penn requires foot surgery and is done for the 2017 season.

Penn seemed to know his season was through when he went down Sunday evening. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports he has ligament damage. The Raiders' blindside protector since 2014, 34-year-old Penn hasn't missed a game since coming onto the regular season scene in 2007. Even at his advanced age, he remained one of the league's best left tackles this season. Penn is headed to free agency, but the Raiders would undoubtedly like to bring him back.

Drew Stanton will be the Cardinals' Week 16 starter at quarterback.

Blaine Gabbert had been getting worse and worse under center before finally bottoming out against the Redskins on Sunday. Stanton has proven time and again to not be an NFL-level starter, but he's probably a better bet than Gabbert at this point. Hopefully he locks onto Larry Fitzgerald against the Giants. The G-Men are an attackable matchup, but Stanton will be an inadvisable streamer for the fantasy finals.

DeShone Kizer will remain the Browns' starting quarterback for Week 16 against the Bears.

Kizer has made precious little progress this season, taking a 9:19 TD:INT ratio into Week 16. 1-29 coach Hue Jackson simply made the decision it's worth giving Kizer maximum time under center as opposed to rolling with not-the-quarterback-of-the-future Cody Kessler. Kizer will almost certainly struggle mightily on the road against the Bears.

The Cardinals will bench QB Blaine Gabbert for Week 16 against the Giants.

Arians had originally said he would stick with Gabbert. He changed his mind after watching the Week 15 film. The Cardinals more than once publicly posited that Gabbert could be their 2018 quarterback, but his play predictably grew progressively worse. Gabbert would have already been out of the league were he not a former first-rounder. Drew Stanton will start Week 16, and presumably Week 17. 28-year-old Gabbert is headed to free agency.
Dec 18 - 2:15 PM

Bills QB Nathan Peterman has officially cleared the league's concussion protocol.

Peterman was expected to be cleared for Week 14 but ended up needing another week in the protocol. He will back up Tyrod Taylor, who played well in the Bills' win over the Dolphins.
