Cardinals sent RHP Marcus Hatley outright to Triple-A Memphis.

Hatley passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment on Friday. He'll continue to provide bullpen depth for the Cardinals at Triple-A.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Sunday that the organization will have a discussion about the rotation spot of Kyle Lohse.

Lohse was handed his 13th loss of the season on Sunday, allowing four runs on nine hits over just 4 1/3 innings against the Cubs. He owns a troublesome 6.31 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 86/30 K/BB ratio on the season and has shown no signs of figuring things out or stringing a few good starts together. It's quite shocking that he has remained in the rotation for as long as he has.

Lucas Duda continued his home run barrage on Sunday, blasting a two-run homer off Jordan Zimmermann in Sunday's 5-2 victory over the Nationals.

With the victory, the Mets completed their sweep of the three-game weekend series against the Nationals and pulled even with their division rival for the top spot in the National League East. Duda has been on an absolute tear at the plate in recent days, blasting nine home runs and driving home 12 runs in his last eight ballgames. He finished the night 2-for-4 and is now hitting .249/.348/.489 with 21 homers and 50 RBI on the season.
Aug 2 - 11:04 PM

Curtis Granderson blasted his 17th home run of the season as the Mets completed their three-game sweep of the Nationals on Sunday.

Granderson's two-run blast off Jordan Zimmermann got the Mets on the board in the third inning. He would immediately be followed by a solo shot from teammate Daniel Murphy, a single from Yoenis Cespedes and a two-run bomb off the bat of Lucas Duda to provide the extent of the Mets offense. Granderson has quietly had a very strong season atop the Mets lineup, slashing .254/.347/.443 with 17 long balls and 38 RBI.
Aug 2 - 10:59 PM

Tyler Clippard earned his first save as a member of the Mets on Sunday, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a three-run advantage.

He allowed a one-out single to Jayson Werth, but no damage would come from it. The veteran right-hander now sports a 2.55 ERA and 39/23 K/BB ratio over 42 1/3 innings on the season while successfully converting 19 of his 23 save chances.
Aug 2 - 10:57 PM

Noah Syndergaard delivered another dominant effort in Sunday's win over the Nationals, allowing two runs on seven hits over eight strong innings.

He racked up nine strikeouts on the impressive evening without issuing a walk. The only damage against him came on a pair of solo home runs, one by Anthony Rendon in the first inning and the other from Yunel Escobar in the sixth. The 22-year-old now boasts a 2.66 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 100/20 K/BB ratio over 94 2/3 innings on the season. He'll look to continue his dominance on Saturday when he takes on the Rays in Tampa Bay.
Aug 2 - 10:54 PM

Anthony Rendon clubbed his first home run of the season as the Nationals fell to the Mets on Sunday night in New York.

Rendon got the Nationals on the board with a solo homer in the first inning off Noah Syndergaard. He also added a pair of singles in the contest, finishing the night 3-for-4 to raise his season slash to .286/.363/.388.
Aug 2 - 10:54 PM

Jordan Zimmerman struggled in a losing effort against the Mets on Sunday, allowing five runs on six hits over his six innings of work.

The right-hander issued a pair of walks while punching out seven on the evening. All of the damage against him came in a span of four batters in the third inning where Curtis Granderson, Daniel Murphy and Lucas Duda all launched towering home runs. Even with this rough outing, Zimmermann will bring a 3.57 ERA and 1.25 WHIP into Friday's matchup against the Rockies.
