Danny Duffy kept the Rangers to one run on four hits over 7 2/3 innings in an 8-2 win Thursday.

Not much has gone right for the southpaw this year, but he found a groove against the Texas club, only allowing a run on his 113th pitch of the night. Duffy walked two and struck out five before exiting. Even with the strong outing, Duffy is just 2-6 with a 6.14 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 11 starts overall. That's not useable in fantasy leagues, and we'll need to see more than one good game to recommend inserting the 29-year-old back into your lineups. Pay attention to how he fares Tuesday against the Twins.

Delino DeShields went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Thursday's loss to the Royals.

It's not much, but DeShields has shown some signs of life at the plate in recent days, collecting two hits, a walk, a stolen base and three runs scored in his last two games. That's a step in the right direction after he experienced a freefall earlier this month. The speedy outfielder is hitting .228/.312/.317 with nine steals in 32 games and can stay on the sidelines until he strings a few more good games together.

Ramon Torres went 2-for-3 with three runs scored in a win over the Rangers on Thursday.

Well, that's a way to make your season debut. He was recalled Saturday when Cheslor Cuthbert hit the disabled list, but he hadn't gotten into a game until Thursday. Batting ninth and playing third base, Torres hit a pair of singles and walked, scoring all three times he reached base. Despite that, the 25-year-old will likely remain in a reserve role and, when Cuthbert returns, is expected to be sent back to Triple-A.

Whit Merrifield went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in Thursday's win over the Rangers.

Merrifield tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the eighth inning with his 13th double of the year. With the two RBI and the run scored, Merrifield is now hitting .286/.358/.418 with 19 RBI and 25 runs scored. A multi-dimensional threat, he's also got 12 steals, second-most in the American League.

Austin Bibens-Dirkx was greeted rudely by the Royals in his season debut Thursday, allowing six runs -- four earned -- in 6 1/3 innings in a loss.

Promoted by the Rangers to make the start after he posted a 3.72 ERA in eight minor league outings, Bibens-Dirkx didn't fare much better than most of the disappointing options the Rangers have run out this year. It wasn't all bad -- he struck out six while walking just one, and an error led to two of the Royals' runs -- but it wasn't much good, either. Considering that the club doesn't boast a ton of better options, the 33-year-old -- who put up a 4.67 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 24 games with the Rangers last year -- will likely get another turn, expected to come Wednesday against the Mariners.

Salvador Perez went 2-for-4 with four RBI in Thursday's win over the Rangers.

Perez came up in two big spots in the game, both times with the bases loaded. Both times he delivered, knocking in a pair of runs in both the fifth and seventh innings. He's now got 26 RBI in 30 games, batting .254/.297/.508 with eight homers and 18 runs scored.

Carlos Rodon had his rehab start for Triple-A Charlotte cut short Thursday after being struck in the head by a line drive.

Rodon was taken out as a precaution but is apparently fine. The left-hander allowed one hit over 2 2/3 shutout innings prior to exiting. He struck out six and didn't walk anyone while throwing 29 of his 40 pitches for strikes. The White Sox were hoping to activate Rodon sometime around June 1, though it's unclear if his return date will be impacted by Thursday's abbreviated outing.

Rays activated 2B Joey Wendle from the paternity leave list.

Willy Adames was optioned to Triple-A in the corresponding move. Wendle has done a nice job this year, hitting .288 with one homer, 11 RBI and three steals while making 28 starts at second base. He should be in the lineup for Friday's series opener against Baltimore.
