Cardinals released RHP Daniel Bard.

Bard had walked 19 batters in 8 2/3 innings this season with Double-A Springfield. The 31-year-old right-hander might have to take his talents to independent ball.

Dylan Bundy struck out seven and held theTwins to two runs over seven frames but took a loss Tuesday.

He walked three and served up a solo homer to Brian Dozier, but it was a nice bounce-back showing from Bundy after he had his first non-quality start of the season the last time out. This was just the fourth time in 10 starts that he’s struck out more than three batters. He’ll get the Yankees next.

Taylor Motter went 0-for-3 on Tuesday and is hitting .208 in 53 at-bats this month.

Motter only played tonight because Danny Valencia was scratched. He was one of April's most pleasant surprises, but the hits haven't been falling in of late. He still has the power and speed to be interesting if he gets another chance to play regularly, but he's not a mixed-league guy right now.

Kennys Vargas notched a pair of doubles in Tuesday's win over the Orioles.

Both two-baggers came off of starter Dylan Bundy. It was the first two-hit game since May 3 for Vargas, who has been struggling of late and finding himself on the bench fairly often as a result.
May 23 - 9:46 PM

Brian Dozier smacked a solo homer in Tuesday's win over the Orioles.

Dozier smashed a line-drive longball over the left field wall off of Dylan Bundy with two outs in the seventh. It was one of just six hits and two runs on the night for the Twins, but that was enough for Ervin Santana. Dozier has six dingers on the year.
May 23 - 9:44 PM

Manny Machado struck out once in four hitless at-bats in Tuesday's loss to the Twins.

Ervin Santana limited the Orioles to two singles in a shutout. Machado has slugged six home runs this month and has 10 on the season, but his average is sitting at a disappointing .218.

A's manager Bob Melvin noted Tuesday that Ryan Dull's strained right knee is healing slower than expected.

"It may take some time before we get him back on the mound," Melvin told reporters. An MRI taken this past weekend ruled out major structural damage, but it sounds like the 27-year-old reliever could remain on the disabled list through much of June. Dull was sporting a disappointing 6.32 ERA through 15 2/3 innings this season out of the Oakland bullpen.
May 23 - 9:27 PM

Brian McCann (concussion) expects to resume hitting Wednesday.

He could also resume catching workouts on Wednesday or Thursday and might be ready to rejoin the Astros over the weekend. McCann was placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list April 21, retroactive to May 20, after taking a hard foul tip off his mask in New York.
