Matt Lindstrom (ankle) might need only 2-3 rehab appearances before being activated.
He's expected to begin a rehab assignment any time now after a successful simulated game Tuesday. That would put Lindstrom on pace to return in early August if all goes well. The reliever said Tuesday that he'd "like to keep closing" once he's activated. The White Sox haven't made any proclamations one way or the other, but Lindstrom is definitely worth stashing for those speculating.
ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Diamondbacks are shopping Gerardo Parra.
The D'Backs are open for business, as they're also listening on Addison Reed, Aaron Hill, Oliver Perez, Martin Prado and Josh Collmenter. Crasnick notes that Arizona "loves Parra's makeup," but he'll be arbitration-eligible for a final time this winter and has only a .657 OPS this season.
Michael Bourn (hamstring) will increase his rehab workload over the next week.
Bourn has been sidelined since July 5 with a left hamstring strain but only recently was allowed to ride a stationary bike. The Indians are taking it slowly with him, as there remains no timetable for his return. "I've kind of on purpose not gone in to push him," manager Terry Francona said. "He's going to obviously add intensity as he continues to feel better. ... He will just continue to ramp up. And when he's ready to play, we'll send him out to play."
Matt Albers (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session on Friday.
It's the first time he'll throw from the bump since he had a setback with his shoulder tendinitis. There's no timetable for Albers' return, but obviously Friday's session will be a nice step in the right direction if it goes well. "I've been feeling pretty good," Albers said. "I think I felt pretty good a couple of times and then when I got off the mound, I had a setback. Hopefully, this time we're making sure I stretch it out and get some extra throwing in before I get back off the mound, but it's feeling pretty good right now."
Eugenio Suarez left Tuesday's game versus the White Sox with lower back tightness.
The Tigers are listing him as day-to-day, so it appears that it's not a big issue. Suarez singled in his lone at-bat before leaving and is batting .260/.347/.394 for the season.
Manny Parra has been unavailable the last few days due to a stiff back.
"He has a little bit of back stiffness," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "It is not something I wanted to announce to our opposing team. His back has been acting up and he's been unavailable." Parra hasn't appeared in a game since July 20, but it appears that he'll avoid the DL.
Royals released LHP Joe Saunders.
Saunders made four starts with Triple-A Omaha, posting a 6.75 ERA. The veteran left-hander will now look to catch on elsewhere.
Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said Tuesday that he's "not optimistic" Starling Marte (concussion) will be activated from the disabled list when first eligible on Wednesday.
Marte appears to be feeling better, but he could go out on a rehab assignment before returning. The outfielder has been on the disabled list for the past week following post-concussion symptoms.
