Darren O'Day recorded four outs against the Red Sox on Friday for his first save of the season.

O'Day relieved Brian Matusz for the final out of the eighth inning and worked around a one-out walk for a scoreless ninth inning. The Orioles were up by four runs in the bottom of the ninth, so O's closer Tommy Hunter wouldn't have been eligible for the save if he pitched. O'Day now has six scoreless outings to begin the year.

Chris Tillman yielded three runs over five innings in a win over the Red Sox on Friday.

Tillman needed 122 pitches to make it through his five innings of work. He wasn't at his best, giving up seven hits and four walks, but he managed to avoid any serious damage and his teammates gave him plenty of run support. Tillman is now 2-1 with a 20/7 K/BB ratio in 26 1/3 innings over four starts. He should remain a useful starter in mixed leagues this season, but his penchant for the fly ball should send his ERA north before long.
Apr 18 - 11:59 PM

John Lackey was hit hard for six runs over 5 1/3 innings in Friday's loss to the Orioles.

Lackey gave up 10 hits and four walks before exiting in the sixth inning. The 35-year-old has now given up six runs in back-to-back outings. He gave up six runs or more just once last year. While Lackey owns an ugly 5.25 ERA through four starts this year, he has at least struck out 23 batters in 24 innings. He'll attempt to turn the tide next week against the Yankees at home. Those in mixed leagues might want to sit out that matchup.

David Freese (hamstring) said Friday that he suffered his injury during his final at-bat of Wednesday's game.

While he was available to pinch-hit on Friday, he's still unsure if he'll be able to return to the Angels lineup on Saturday. Ian Stewart had a big night in his place on Friday, and would likely draw the start on Saturday if Freese is unable to go.
Apr 18 - 11:58 PM

Nick Markakis went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a walk, and two runs scored against the Red Sox on Friday.

Markakis now has back-to-back multi-hit games, pulling his batting average up to .273 for the year. He has only drawn two walks through 15 games, which isn't ideal as a leadoff man. But history suggests that he should get his fair share of free passes as the season moves along.
Apr 18 - 11:58 PM

Daniel Nava went 1-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Friday's loss to the Orioles.

Nava, who started in right field and batted second Friday, is hitting just .136 (8-for-59) through 15 games this season. Jackie Bradley's roster spot appears safe, so Nava or Mike Carp could be the odd man out when Shane Victorino (hamstring) comes off the disabled list. Carp went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored on Friday night.
Apr 18 - 11:57 PM

Cesar Cabral was ejected from Friday's game against the Rays after hitting three hitters in the eighth inning.

It was an epic meltdown for Cabral, who seemed to legitimately have no idea where the ball was going. With David Robertson's impending return from the disabled list on Tuesday, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the southpaw return to Triple-A for more seasoning.
Apr 18 - 11:51 PM

Blue Jays activated INF Jose Reyes from the 15-day disabled list.

Reyes, who has been out since March 31 due to inflammation in his hamstring, will rejoin the Blue Jays lineup on Saturday. While he's incredibly talented, his long history of hamstring injuries continues to be worrisome for fantasy owners, especially playing half of his games on the turf in Toronto.
