Steelers ILB Sean Spence was forced from Thursday's preseason game with a knee injury.

Aug 21 - 11:28 PM

Steelers OLB Jason Worilds "looked fine" after leaving Thursday's preseason game with a knee injury.

Worilds was spotted jogging "without anything visible" on his knee after departing in the third quarter. It appears his removal was purely precautionary. It's a major bullet dodged for a Steelers team counting on Worilds as one of its defensive anchors.

Steelers WR Justin Brown failed to secure either of his targets in Thursday night's preseason game against Philly.

Practice reports on Brown have been exceedingly upbeat since the spring, but he hasn't done much in game action. He has three catches for 15 yards on seven targets this preseason. Brown did open Thursday's game as the Steelers' No. 3 receiver, with Lance Moore inactive. So Brown would appear to be the No. 4.

Darrius Heyward-Bey caught 3-of-3 targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason game.

The grabs were DHB's first of the preseason. He ran right by undrafted rookie S Daytawion Lowe for his 33-yard score in the fourth quarter, at least for one brief moment looking like a former first-rounder. It couldn't have hurt his roster odds.
Aug 21 - 11:19 PM

Markus Wheaton secured 2-of-4 targets for 24 yards in Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles.

The stat line is inoffensive enough, but Wheaton displayed an alarming lack of chemistry with Ben Roethlisberger, appearing to run the wrong route multiple times. Wheaton was officially targeted only four times, but had two other ugly looks wiped away by penalties. Being forced into the Steelers' No. 2 role opposite Antonio Brown, Wheaton has five catches for 67 yards and a touchdown through three preseason games. Although Wheaton has impressive raw ability, he'll be a boom-or-bust WR3/4 as he tries to replace Emmanuel Sanders.
Aug 21 - 11:15 PM

Lance Moore was inactive for Thursday night's third preseason game with an undisclosed injury.

ESPN's box score had Moore with one target, but he didn't play. Moore has caught just one ball for six yards in the preseason. Moore has had a quiet camp, to the point he hasn't even warranted a Rotoworld blurb since June. He's tentatively expected to open the season as Pittsburgh's slot receiver, between Antonio Brown and Markus Wheaton. But we wouldn't write that in stone.
Aug 21 - 11:13 PM

Heath Miller secured 5-of-6 targets for 53 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason game.

Playing well into the second half with the rest of the Steelers' starters, Miller secured a laser 27-yard strike from Ben Roethlisberger for the first-team offense's only score. Back to moving like he did before his knee surgery, Miller finishes the preseason with eight catches for 62 yards and a score. Generally going in the TE14-18 range, Miller could prove to be a late-round steal. He still has low-end TE1 upside.
Aug 21 - 11:09 PM

LeGarrette Blount rushed seven times for 32 yards in Thursday's preseason game, and secured 3-of-3 targets for an additional 14 yards.

Blount came off the bench behind Le'Veon Bell, but got to work on Pittsburgh's second series. Apparently being "punished" for their Wednesday arrests, both players played into the fourth quarter, finishing with 10 touches a piece. Blount out-gained Bell 46-26. Neither player got the rock near the goal-line, as the Steelers were never in position. Blount is clearly ticketed for weekly work, but remains a firm No. 2 to Bell's No. 1. Even if he earns the majority of the goal-line opportunities, Blount is little more than a mid-range RB3.
