Brandon Drury will start at second base in Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Rockies.

It's an interesting note, as Drury has mostly played second base in the minors. The 22-year-old batted .299/.362/.510 with 23 home runs and 95 RBI across 136 games between High-A and Double-A last season and is considered one of the Diamondbacks' top position prospects.

Michael Kirkman (shoulder) is scheduled to throw his first bullpen session of the spring on Wednesday.

Good news for Kirkman, who has fallen behind the other pitchers in camp due to an impingement in the back of his left shoulder. The 28-year-old southpaw was non-tendered by the Rangers in December, but he's in camp this spring as a non-roster invitee.

The Rangers have returned LHP Edgar Olmos to the Mariners.

The Rangers claimed Olmos off waivers from the Mariners last week, but they are getting it reversed after he was diagnosed with a left shoulder impingement. The 24-year-old southpaw was previously designated for assignment by Seattle after the Rickie Weeks signing.

Miguel Cabrera (foot) took batting practice on the field Wednesday for the second straight day.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said that Cabrera felt really good. He still has to progress with his running program, but the Tigers couldn't ask for much more at this stage of his rehab. He still has some work to do, but Opening Day isn't unrealistic.
Mar 4 - 9:14 AM

Tigers released RHP Joel Hanrahan.

It's just a paper move, as Hanrahan needs another Tommy John surgery and will miss the entire 2015 season. The veteran reliever was in camp this spring as a non-roster player.
Mar 4 - 9:09 AM

Nick Castellanos (hand) is in Wednesday's lineup against the Orioles.

Castellanos left Tuesday's Grapefruit League game after suffering a left hand contusion on a hit-by-pitch, but X-rays came back negative. It sounds like the Tigers aren't too worried about it. Castellanos, who turns 23 on Wednesday, hit .259 with 11 home runs and a .700 OPS across 148 games as a rookie last year and should be poised to take another step forward in 2015.
Mar 4 - 8:58 AM

Brian Matusz received a cortisone shot in his right (non-throwing) shoulder Monday for an AC joint strain.

Matusz is feeling better now, but he hurt his shoulder six weeks ago while lifting weights. It's his non-throwing shoulder, so it's not a major concern. The 28-year-old southpaw had a 3.48 ERA and 53/17 K/BB ratio across 51 2/3 innings last season.
Mar 4 - 8:54 AM

Paul Janish (elbow) could begin hitting this weekend.

Janish underwent surgery two weeks ago to remove bone chips from his right elbow, but he took grounders for 20-25 minutes on Tuesday and will throw on Friday or Saturday. He hopes to play in games starting March 20-21, which doesn't give him much time to show the Orioles that he should make the team. Look for him to begin the year in the minors.
