Falcons placed C Joe Hawley on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.

Sep 30 - 2:12 PM

Texans waived S Shiloh Keo.

S Josh Aubrey was promoted from the practice squad in a corresponding roster move. An 11-game starter in place of Ed Reed last season, Keo had yet to appear in a game as he battled a calf injury. Largely ineffective in 2013, Keo has made 42 career appearances. Three months shy of his 27th birthday, he'll search for reserve/special teams work.

Raiders named OL coach Tony Sparano interim head coach.

Sparano, who coached the Dolphins from 2008-11, gets the nod over OC Greg Olson. Olson has no head-coaching experience. A Bill Parcells disciple, Sparano is now most (in)famous for his Wild Cat flirtations with Tim Tebow in New York, but he should be a solid guiding hand for the final 12 games of the season. We wouldn't consider him a strong candidate for the full-time gig, but the Raiders have a knack for making poor decisions. We wouldn't rule anything out.
Sep 30 - 2:00 PM

Jarrett Boykin (knee, groin) sat out Tuesday's practice.

It appears Boykin will miss his second straight game on Thursday, again leaving Davante Adams as the Packers' No. 3 receiver against the Vikings. Boykin is droppable in 12-team leagues.

Jordan Cameron admits the sprained AC joint in his shoulder is going to be an issue for the rest of the season, but says he "(feels) healthy."

Cameron "(feels) good" coming off the Browns' bye week. The issue will be at risk of aggravation for the entire season, but Cameron will be a TE1 whenever he takes the field. Cleveland is traveling to Tennessee for Week 5.

Redskins LT Trent Williams says there's "nothing torn" in his right knee, and that he's "hopeful" of starting Monday's game against the Seahawks.

Williams didn't even undergo an MRI after departing last week's blowout loss, and has "no instability" in his knee. If there's a reason he could be held out, it's the Redskins' short turnaround between Weeks 5 and 6. Sitting Monday would give Williams over two weeks of rest. That could be the best course of action to keep him on the field for the rest of 2014.
Sep 30 - 1:19 PM

Jamaal Charles (ankle) escaped his Week 4 return with nothing more than normal soreness.

Charles will likely be limited in practice on Wednesday with the Chiefs on a short week, but he'll be ready to rock for Sunday's showdown with the 49ers. If there was a concern from Monday's win, it was Knile Davis getting 17 touches, but it was largely game-flow related, while Charles missed some time with cramps. Even with Davis getting work, Charles will continue to monopolize red-zone touches. Charles is back to being a weekly top-three option at running back.

Chiefs WR Donnie Avery has been diagnosed with an abductor strain.

It's a hip injury, one that's more common in baseball than football. It's uncertain how long Avery might be sidelined, but he should be considered doubtful for Sunday's game against the 49ers, especially since the Chiefs are on bye in Week 6. Avery has just seven catches for 72 yards since filling in as the Chiefs' No. 1 receiver in Week 1.
