Kyle Lohse tossed 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball Wednesday as the Brewers defeated the Reds.
Lohse was sharp, yielding only four hits and two walks while pitching into the seventh inning. The veteran right-hander ran into a bit of a rough patch in early July, but he's back on track now with two straight one-run outings. Lohse will carry an 11-4 record, 3.07 ERA, and 1.09 WHIP into his next start on the road against the Rays.
Mike Leake surrendered four earned runs in six innings Wednesday in the Reds' loss to the Brewers.
It was the third straight four-run outing for Leake, who now has a 3.73 ERA on the year. He didn't walk a batter Wednesday at Miller Park, but the Brewers pounded him for 11 hits -- including a homer, a double, and a triple. Leake will try to right the ship next week at home against the Diamondbacks.
Hanley Ramirez (wrist) is out of the Dodgers' starting lineup Tuesday night versus the Pirates.
Hanley was struck by pitches on the left shoulder and wrist in the Dodgers' win over the Cardinals on Sunday night and hasn't played since. He's still day-to-day.
Yasiel Puig (hand) is not in the Dodgers' starting lineup on Wednesday against the Pirates.
It'll be the fourth straight game that Puig has missed. He took a Joe Kelly pitch off his left hand on Saturday and is still sore. Multiple X-rays have been taken and the results were negative. Puig remains day-to-day.
Astros recalled 1B Marc Krauss from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Krauss batted just .173 with a .581 OPS in 39 games with the Astros earlier this season. The 26-year-old is doubtful to hold fantasy relevance in his second look.
Astros placed OF George Springer on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right quad.
Springer also has a knee issue and wasn't making enough progress in his workouts. The hope is that he'll be ready as soon as his 15-day stint is over. Springer, 24, boasts an .804 OPS, 20 home runs, and 51 RBI through his first 78 games at the major league level.
Twins recalled RHP Ryan Pressly from Triple-A Rochester.
Pressly has registered a promising 2.98 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 63/21 K/BB ratio in 60 1/3 innings this season at Triple-A. He should do well in a middle relief role.
Twins designated RHP Matt Guerrier for assignment.
Guerrier had a 3.86 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 12/10 K/BB ratio in 28 innings out of the Minnesota bullpen. The 35-year-old right-hander could draw interest on waivers.
