Enes Kanter says his arm feels "pretty good" and when asked if he might play on Friday night, he said "it's a secret."
If Kanter really is in play for tomorrow night against the Lakers it means he recovered very quickly from his broken arm and returned a bit ahead of schedule. While feeling "pretty good" is a step in the right direction, we still don't know if Kanter has a realistic shot at playing on Friday. But it sure seems like a possibility. Watch for more updates on his status coming Friday afternoon.
Ricky Rubio is practicing prior to the trade deadline on Thursday.
There's not much information to be gleaned here, but at a minimum it doesn't sound like a Rubio trade has already been agreed upon. The Knicks have repeatedly been mentioned as suitors for Rubio, possibly in a deal involving Derrick Rose, and we won't have to wait much longer to learn his fate.
DeMar DeRozan missed practice on Thursday because he was attending a funeral.
To be clear, he's fully expected to play on Friday vs. the Celtics. The Raptors are expected to make a move at the deadline, but DeRozan obviously isn't going anywhere -- the Raptors are looking for a small forward and have been linked to P.J. Tucker and Wilson Chandler.
Chris Paul (thumb) remained listed as out in the game notes for Thursday against the Warriors.
He reportedly could play and has been cleared. For what it's worth, the game notes had him listed as out after the report came out that he could play. In other words, we're treating this report more like a "doubtful" to play.
Combo guard Jarrett Jack will work out for the guard-depleted Pelicans, according to Marc Stein.
The former Yellow Jacket and NBA vet last played for the Nets and Hawks, and is trying to come back from an ACL tear suffered in 2016. The Pelicans, who need guard help after the DeMarcus Cousins trade, would be a nice landing spot for him, but he's 33 years old and probably wouldn't make much of a fantasy impact even if he were to be signed.
The Clippers and Knicks have discussed a trade involving Courtney Lee, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.
The Knicks are reportedly looking for draft picks, which the Clippers don't have, so it's unclear how far these discussions have gone. Lee would be a nice real-world addition to the Clippers but it wouldn't help his fantasy stock.
Ty Lawson (groin) is available to play on Thursday vs. the Nuggets.
He was able to practice on Tuesday after missing the last four games before the All-Star break. Lawson isn't a great fantasy asset right now, but that could change if the Kings move Darren Collison at the deadline.
Garrett Temple (left hamstring) will not play vs. the Nuggets on Thursday.
Temple suffered a partially torn hamstring and he was due to be reevaluated after the break, but we've yet to hear an updated timetable. Fantasy owners can leave him on the wire, while expecting guys like Buddy Hield, Ben McLemore and Tyreke Evans to absorb extra minutes in his absence.
